How many new hires at Jazz?

Post by superpilot »

I just accepted a job at Jazz starting on the 20th of Feb. There are supposedly 18 new hires in my GS. Tamara said I would be approx number 140-150 since they started hiring last summer.

Anyone have any idea how many new hires they are going to require? Since the call back I mean. So I would be #150 out of how many?

Also, heard through the grapevine that lot's of dudes from Jazz are gettin scooped up by WestJet. Any truth?

Why must I get paid like a monkey?

Super Pilot,

Congrats on the new position at Jazz. As of Feb 06,2006 Jazz has 1389 pilots. All so from July 1 2005 til now we have hired 127 pilots. Your sen. number will depend on the number you pull during ground school. I haven't heard of any Jazz pilots leaving recently for the teal team. I know that a few years ago we lost a few.

there were 11 in the FEB 6 GS, so I guess thats makes an even 1400, with 85 (MIN) more to go - so they said first day. Who knows what the future brings though...Congrats and get ready to study!!!

Heard around 30 are going to AC soon, so that means 30 more hires for Jazz too.

There should be more hiring coming because right now, Jazz is barely able to hire enough pilots to cover the ones who are leaving for mainline... (24 pilots hired in febuary, about 30 leaving for mainline).

And there are planes sitting on the ground everyday because they don't have the crews to fly them. And that doesn't even include the posibility of new planes coming in... so hiring is not over.

Curious where you got this information that 30 are going to mainline? That is a course and a half dedicated to only Jazz pilots? Seems like alot.

Max... I was told initially there would be 238 guys (and gals), and I heard they're at around 140 now.

also does the last bid include the 10 additional rjs they will be aquiring or does the last bid already reflect those aircraft additions.

if so how many vacancies can you guess at will be shown on the next bid?

Thanx

as of 2 days ago, there is another 85 to be hired, and they will be hired by july. Now thats not counting those leaving for AC, or any additional planes that may come this way. What the final #'s will be is anyones guess.

Don't forget those Dash 8 Jazz pilots transitioning over to the RJ???

I know there are a couple of Dash 8 openings in YYC because so many moved over.

Thanks KAG,

I was hoping I was going to have about 140 people behind me, but looks like it might be closer to 60-70.

What experience level are they generally hiring? And where are these guys/gals coming from?

I know I don't have the experience now, but if I can figure out where they're taking people from, than I can fill those shoes. :D

I hope there is a ton of movement this spring, so the little guys can get a shot to move up...And it looks like that will be happening.

Are there specific companies that have a high turnover right now? Or just pulling them from anywhere...
