What is the process for Captain upgrade at Jazz and AC?
Is there a seperate course? Is it one on one training or a class? How long..etc

Can not speak for Jazz, but at AC it can be a process involving lots of checks. If all goes without a hitch it generally works like this, do the course for the aircraft type with MOT ride, usaully done by company check pilot with authority from MOT. Then you do line indoc (around fifty hours) with a couple of progress checks to see how things are going. If you get a thumbs up there, it's back to the sim for command loft, followed by command evaluation check with company check pilot. Last but not least you have to do command base check with a seperate company check pilot. The whole process takes 6 to 8 weeks if everything goes without problem. The process might have changed since I did it, but I think it's pretty close.
All of the above is correct...plus
There is a mandatory 3 day Intro to Command groundschool. It is heavy into law/responsibilities, FOM, dispatch, and instilling into new Captains that your job is to set the parking brake and say no when you don't like how things are being pushed on you.
Lastly there is an interview with the Chief Pilot. This can take place before the command final line check.
If you are transitioning on an airplane you are currently f/o on it may go faster. If it is a new type then 6-12 weeks+ if there are delays in the training due to sim availablity or check pilot availability.

You learn more from your mistakes than your successes. F**k enough things up and you'll die a genius.
