cleared to 'blah blah' via radar vectors
got a question.. say you're flying your flight planned route, and somewhere during the flight ATC says 'you're not cleared to AIRPORT via radar vectors, fly heading blah blah blah'..
so say you fly the assigned heading, and you get a comm failure 15 minutes later..
what are you expected to do?

If I can add my two cents. One of the concerns we have always had is that when you are being radar vectored you might well be below the minimum safe altitude. So. As well as procedure I think it is important to make sure you are at a safe altitude and climb if required.
I have talked to the ATC folks about this and they advise that in these situations they will clear out the area and see what you are doing.
Maybe someone from ATC could confirm my understanding of this.

What has been said is correct. If below the safe altitude, climb to it. Proceed to either the point at which you were being vectored, the point from which you can carry out the instrument approach, or if no point was specified (i.e. vectors for traffic. . .) proceed direct the next fix on your route.
