Hello All,
Does anyone know if there is any aircraft for rent in the Nanaimo Area? I just talked to Vital Aviation and he told me the closest is Victoria? Which sucks. Im looking for a 172 or 150. Thanks

Good luck. Nanaimo has always been a terrible place to rent. You might want to look up Gianni Grando if he still has his 150. The flying club just might be able to help you but it is very doubtful, it is more of an owners club.
Maybe Qualicum? Is Courteney Flight Center still open?

How long do you need it for? If your planning to log more than an hr or 2 we could probably relocate a 172 or a katana up there for you (250) 655-0394... either that or drive to Vic/Courtney
There IS some kind of club at Qualicum, my old CP used to teach there, but I don’t know much about it.... I think they have one 172...
As for places in Victoria to rent from:
Juan Air
Flying club
Island Pacific Flight Academy (IPFA) we just reopened (Parallel’s new name in Vic; although we are officially split off as a separate company now-new owner etc...)
PS if you only need the plane for a shorter time you MAY be able to convince an instructor to sit on the ground and read while your up; but it would probably by .6 to ferry it there & back... No promises however!

Nanaimo used to have a reasonably good customer base.
I owned a flight school here from 1986 to 1991 and operated six single engine and one twin engine airplanes as well as one R22 helicopter on floats under a FTU OC both fixed and rotary wing aircraft.
Several years ago I put a lot of money in starting another school with the intent to bring back a big flying group to Nanaimo.
However the Regional Director Civil Aviation with the full support of the Director General Civil Aviation in Ottawa used their power within the regulator to unlawfully deny me the operating certificate to operate a FTU in Nanaimo.
However I am planning in opening another training and rental facility here without an Operating Certificate from Transport Canada.
At the moment I have several other commitments and one last certified airplane left over from my attempt to start a FTU, when I get those two things out of my life I will be ready to start my new business.
Don't worry about TC making an issue about my not having an OC to teach as there are legal ways for me to do so.
But I would invite anyone from TC to try and stop me.
So if any of you pricks from TCCA Pacific Region read this you better be very, very sure of what you are doing if you start harassing me again.

The hardest thing about flying is knowing when to say no
After over a half a century of flying no one ever died because of my decision not to fly.
