Dash Reservists in YC or VR

Post by Captain Esq. »

Can anyone tell me how much a Dash 8 reserve pilot, who is clinging to the lowest rung of the base seniority list might actually fly in a month? Specifically, in the Calgary and/or Vancouver bases. Thanks.

guaranteed 12 days off a month so on call 18-19 days. As to how many you work it varies month to month but as low man probably 16-17. Rite now lowman has a block cause others choose reserve over getting stuck with 4 day'ers in yyz. when there is lots of reserve pilots (it varies a lot) you coyuld work only 5 or 6 days

YVR is a very very senior base! I think you will be on RES for a very very long time, for a very very low wage!

I totally understand that YC and VR are very senior bases. However, if I'm going on the dash, I'll be on reserve in any base regardless. So I may as well be on reserve in a place near my home, instead of moving to Toronto. If I can hold a block in Toronto, I'll move there when the time comes. I just want to know how much flying a western based reservist would do compared to a guy in Montreal or Toronto. That's all. Thanks.

You will be on reserve in YYZ for a very short period of time reguardless of what your flying. Right now in YYZ in think 2-3 months on reserve at the most is expected. But who knows untill it happens.

Hey PFM how does that work? I know there are a few guys from previous G/S that would like YYC. So I guess that couldn't bid them at the time??

Close family member is a senior pilot in YYC for Jazz. Himself and several senior pilots always bid reserve. The trend is for senior pilots to be bid reserve in YYC unless they want a specific pairing or routing.

You have me confused. You just posted on another thread:
Captain Esq. wrote:Lets see. I make $5000/month, and I've flown 4 hours in the past month and a half. So that means I'm making $1875/hour of flight. And I want to leave this for Jazz? Shall I give my head a shake?
What made you change your mind?
