Turbine v.s. Piston Question.

If you had a choice between flying say a new B777 or a Lockheed Super Constellation for a few hours in the left seat just for pleasure as a prize which would you take?

As an aside, the line mtce guys in CYWG used to run a pool when the "Super-G" was operating into winterpeg; which engine would be feathered.
My choice, the "Connie"... a777 is just another big video game.

Miss the burpin' and fartin' from the Beech 18, Beaver and DC3. Is it just me, or did anyone else notice them go into "auto-rough" near the mid-point of water crossings??

I think the answer will almost always be what is less likely to occur.

The chance to fly a connie is not likely in my future. A 777 is more likely, so I would choose the connie. If it was the other way around. My choice would follow suit. I think most people feel the same, whether they know it or not.

I could be wrong though.

Connie, hands down.

As an aside, a good friend of mine ferried the one John Travolta bought, which later became the MATS Connie on the airshow circuit, from Mont-Joli to Fort Lauderdale. He had a runaway prop and went into Raleigh-Durham. He said when that prop went out to full fine, he became an instant Christian.

Sounds like a GREAT idea, build that Connie up with Allison 501's! Either that or a DC6 or DC7. Now that would be something.

The pilot pool, at least, has a vibrant youthful feeling to it; unlike the soon-to-be retired sludge swamp that we must wade through everyday.

What do you prefer Cat? Driving-Rain? (the activity, not the nice tail playing the activity)

OR

Ever go fishing, catch an ok fish, only to have the fish on the line be consumed by a critter higher up on the food chain? You're about to be pulled into my pool, and Kitty chum only stirs the frenzy.
