IATRA
Hi everyone
I have a question about how long a IATRA exam is good for.
I wrote my IATRA eaxm about six years ago and held a PPC on the jetstream 31 until december of 2003. My question is does your IATRA remain good for life as long as you do a ppc within two years of writing the exam or what?
Thanks I could not find the info on TC's web site

That is the way it may be. The rules change so much it is hard to keep up but I had a chap who wrote the IATRA and got a type rating on a heavy Metro(16,000 MTOW) and he was told the IATRA could be held "for future use"
I also read that very same statement in Personell Licensing on TC's web site. Check the CARS on line.

The average pilot, despite the somewhat swaggering exterior, is very much capable of such feelings as love, affection, intimacy and caring.
These feelings just don't involve anyone else.

From what I understand the IATRA is valid for 24 months, or untill a type rating is endorsed on the licence. As soon as any type rating is put on the licence, you have what TC calls a "two-crew rating" and you need no longer require the IATRA to have been written within the previous 24 months.
Quote from CAR 421.40 (3) (a)
Also this should apply to any aircraft that requires a type rating, regardless of operation (703/704/705, 604 or even a private aircraft).

It doesn't mention anything about type ratings subsequent to the first, so we can only assume the 24 months is not a requirement,in the case of the holder of a Private Pilot Licence-Aeroplane or Commercial Pilot Licence-Aeroplane, within the 24 months preceding the application for the first endorsement of the two crew rating, an applicant shall have obtained a minimum score of 70 percent (70%) on the Type Rating-Aeroplane (IATRA) written examination;
