oh yee of little faith.. Anyway regardless if you want to believe or not, there are direct entry captain positions at Canjet. Wether or not they cut the mustard and make it through the training and line indoc is yet to be seen. If they don't well then they don't get their $10000 signing bonus and they'll just end up in the right seat.
Just as a note to the experience of some of these people, they do have quite a bit of experience and not just beating around in the maritimes. Some do have a few years international flying and beating around the states as well.
We'll just have to see how the 737 treats them.

Hi guys and gals,
It's funny to hear all of you talk about all the experience you need to fly such a complicated rig, I guess it was hard for all of the guys that flew for EPA taking a left seat coming off a piston Beaver and Otter. The last I heard the B737 had 2 wings and a tail just like the rest of the aircraft. If it is a problem to land that fast a/c on 7000' maybe you should not be in the cockpit. Just by listening to eveybody talk it must be the most complex a/c there is. Just a final comment to ponder: are we still flying VOR to VOR or did you get one of those complex rigs called a GPS yet???????

I agree.... we just lost a good one to WJ (with maybe more to follow?).
As for the GPS.... ohhh wishful thinking ( they're 500's not 800's)!
As for time, a dash guy has no prob going skipper, but when you have guys waiting with over 10,000 to 12,000 hours and previous jet experience..... come on boys, give me a break!!
We'll see just how things unfold shortly.
Cheers.

rumors?? there's plenty of those. We've been told Vegas was planned then scraped. YVR was scraped to make room for charters, couldn't keep that during winter due to lack of crews and aircraft. Other places have been talked about, but never happened due to lack of crews. Orders for more -300's have been cancelled because of .............. you guessed it, lack of crews.
The future of expansion with this company depends on how many pilots they can attract, but mostly how many they can retain.
Just heard another is gone to the Emirates.

It is a good airline. It's still young and corporate has alot to learn.
Let be known, CanJet is a great place to work because of the employees, but some things need to be improved. Ever since the schedule made leaps and bounds, I'm happy here.

NO ONE has said it is a complicated rig...have they? show me where. You are missing the point.
The point remains that there are people here that can easily fly this thing from the left seat and should be upgraded before anyone is brought in from some turboprop to scoop by them and make more money than the Level 1 Caps (due to the signing bonus)
Exactly Disco, that is the point.
The decision on not upgrading must be coming from one of the M's upstairs, is it not?It is confusing why that is when CJ is looking to expand but by doing this they risk losing more pilots. Will living in YHZ be good enough for the pilots causing them to just take what is given to them? One step forward will equal 2 back.Or will it?I don't know.
When does the pilot group start negotiating as an ALPA group?

you know, i just don't get it...management thinks if you can fly a dash 8 you can fly anything.....i fly with alot of the king-air and 1900 drivers, and they do a damn good job....they would have no problem switching to the left seat...it's to bad we are gonna lose so many good guys and gals, and management doesn't see it...

The sad thing about it is that the company is creating a negative atmosphere there already between the new hire DEs and the current group. Its too bad because I am sure they are a good bunch of guys. I don't think I'd like to be starting in a new company with that kind of sh#t over my head right from the get go.

the new hires shouldn't worry about any sh*t hanging over them.
The negative atmosphere was created between the line pilots and management. Everybody here won't take anything personal, especially towards those new hires on the way. DE's have been hired before and fit in with no problems. Like I said before, this is a great place to work because of the employees.
To the new guys coming from PAL, don't think the rest of guys and gals will look at you like some scab.
