To all of u in Jazz/AC,
i'm (and sure a lot of others are) curious as to what type of flying you are rostered to do in a pairing or patter.
Sectors per day, length of overnights etc etc.
At the airline i work for our rosters are 56 dayz long, we would typically fly no more then 50-55 hrs per month. The type of flying i do i longhaul international on the A330-300.
On average our trips are about 4 days long. Depart fay one, have 48hrs off at destination and operate home. Depending on the number of times the port is serviced will affect the slip time there.
For this roster iam scheduled for 24 dayz work out of the 56. no standby dayz and will fly a total of 14 sectors. Average flight is about 7 hrs and the longest is 12hrs. about half of our flying is back of the clock, but mostly north south so the biggest time change is 3 hrs.
Doenst help though is u spend the previous night smashing piss and chasing the flighties!!!! HELL YEAH!!!!!!!!
Anywho, hope others care to coment, would be nice to hear
Cheers
A typical day/pairing

You can bid anything from 1 to 4 days... and do more if you ask for back to back pairings.
At the other extreme, you can bid reserve, and as long as someone with less seniority than you is on, you can pass it off to them.

I want to die like my grandfather did, peacefully in his sleep. Not screaming in terror like his passengers...
I think you would likely be looking to compare skeds with someone at A/C flying a similar type aircraft. I fly a Dash-8 for Jazz and can tell you that my schedule is nothing like what you described. Our schedule is only posted one month at a time. We work anywhere from 13-17 days out of every 30. Depending on your seniority you will fly anywhere from 3-9 legs EACH DAY. Most legs are less than an hour with some being as short as 10 min and some as long as 2 1/2 hours. Pairings are anywhere from 1-4 days in length. Our duty days are anywhere from 9-14 hrs long with minimum time off of 10hrs. (and there are many minimum turns. 14hr day with 10hrs off then back at it for another 13-14hrs.) We don't fly much on the backside of the clock, except for special charters or ferry flights. Its a totally different world to what you are used to. Having said all that, we have a great bunch of guys and gals to work with and being based in YVR, get to do some pretty interesting flying in and around some very mountainous terrain. All and all a pretty good gig.

On an aircraft like the 767 at Air Canada ( which is probably the most popular ) your schedule can be whatever you want it to be, providing adequate seniority.
You can bid to do Caribean day turns and be home everynight or multiple day sectors up to around 6 days long. You just need to build a month consisting of approx 80 hours. If you are doing Barbados turns, that translates to 8 days a month at work. If you are doing Montreal turns, well lets just say you are working many more days!
Tel Aviv is very productive, you are away from home for 48 hours and do 24 hours of flying. You can also bid for long layovers somewhere if you like but only get 4 hours of credit for each day sitting around on a layover.
You want to go skiing in July, bid Santiago Chilie. Surfing in November, bid Maui.
The 340/330 fleet has fewer destinations than the 767 which goes just about everywhere.
