Need a Goose pilot

Post by Dog »

Here's the deal:
Minimum of 2000TT, 1000 float (preferably West Coast time) and 400 multi for a four month contract. You will train on Grumman G-21a (Goose) and pass VFR TC PPC single pilot.
Pay is $132.83/day base and .30 cents a mile, 50 mile minimum. Accomodations provided. $50 per diem and 300 mile minimum when @ Bella Bella base otherwise staying in Port Hardy.
It's for a well established company (I worked for them last season) with great maintenance. Great Chief Pilot as well.
The work is hard and so is the flying. There are alot of 20+ leg days with 500 lbs or more going in and out every stop (that means can lift up to 20 000 lbs a day). If you can earn your money you will be well looked after.
Email me your resume and I will pass it on.

A PPC is required because it's a multi engine a/c operating under CARs 703. The season is short because it mirrors the fishing lodge season out here.

Sounds great...now if only they'd employ me on the turbines down in YVR for the winter so that I could feed my family and pay my mortgage for the other 8 months of the year...

Yep, sounds like they are planning on taking 2 float guys a summer into the IFR side for the winter. They're hoping to get 3 more summers out of the pilots on the goose. It would be a great gig, but you can count on a few of those spots taken for the time being by current goose pilots. So maybe possibility of year round goose/beaver work while a couple current goose drivers head to YVR. If you're thinking about trying to build IFR time you'd be better waiting for the 2nd coming of Jesus, but if the float and goose work appeal it would be a good gig for you

I've heard that they're planning to send two to the IFR side for the off season. It won't be the new hires however. That means with two gone to wheels there will be two slots available to people who want to stay on past the busy season. There is one more Goose online for the season this year (for a total of five) and two pilots aren't coming back (one lost his medical and the other is working closer to home). Really they're looking for guys for the long run as it typically takes a season just to get comfortable flying and docking the plane.
The wages went up this year by quite a bit so guys should be making in the $8000 a month range with the real possibility of making more. With the new payscale it's possible to be making $3000 a month in the winter working 10 days. I think it's a fair deal for guys willing to make a commitment.
I understand that they are looking for two direct entry Goose pilots.
Cheers

8) I believe that Goose was a Radar Intercept Officer... not a pilot. However, he's welcome to apply if he meets the qualifications.
