Westjet Question
For the WestJet guys here, just wondering how long your average day is and how many days you work per month. Also, when you do work, are you away the entire time or do most of your trips bring you back to your home base the same day?
Ok and since I’m asking (thanks for your patience) is it true YYZ and YVR are now considered “ports”?
Thanks for the info.

The average day is all over the map, like most airlines. Do and out and back to LAX from YYC, and you check in at 0930, off at 1810. There are 1 day pairings out there, but I would guess most pairings are in the 3 to 4 day catagory.
If you haven't had enough yet, there is always the red-eye from YYC to YYZ and back.
The last few months have been a pretty steady 14 to 15 days off.
YVR will be the first port, then YYZ, is what I'm hearing.
Hope that helps.

The whole westjet port thing is very conceptual right now, with not alot of specifics. Remember, everyone will officially be based in YYC. But pairings will be built in whatever is deemed a port, and people can bid for those pairings. Eventually you may get a whole block of pairings out of the 'port', but you may also get some your pairings out of YYC and have to commute in a traditional manner.
As for a place like YOW, it is unlikely that would ever be a port. But you could certainly use YYZ as your port and commute to there for any pairings that operate out of there.
Also, keep in mind that it will only be in YVR for now, and I have not heard when it might start in YYZ. I would assume alot of it depends on how the program evolves and how effective it is. Lots of unknowns on that front right now.

Re: Westjet Question
There is no flight at WestJet that feels as hard as FLightcraft 273/274(to hell and back we called it in 98'). There is also no little weasel in YLW manipulating your schedule to screw up your commute or vacation either.KFCpilot wrote:For the WestJet guys here, just wondering how long your average day is and how many days you work per month.
