Absolutely no problem believing that. In the U.S. you don't need a type rating to sit right seat, only a CPL. Pilots often have flight experience on type prior to taking any formal training on the aircraft.

I think these posts were Canadian and I still don't believe them!

How old is your copilot?

Are you typed as a captain AND released as one?

Are you signing out the logbook as the captain?

Do you hold an ATPL?

Do you just swap seats/legs and play captain?

Gazu..I swear just before you took that picture someone ripped down my pants and put that goats hind legs in my rubber boots!! :P

Ok, sorry but I have to comment on this one... Someone is blowing smoke up asses here.

If you are not employed by the federal government and are with 412 squadron, you are not telling the whole story!

If you are with a corporate flight department, then someone has done you a great favor by labelling you a Captain. I am guessing, no PPC, you fly with other very experienced Captains, one of which is a relative, church friend or someone who caught your dad screwing a knot hole.

If this is the case, YOU ARE NOT A CAPTAIN and whoever put you in the situation where you can claim to be has done you and the industry a disservice.

If you want to make totally outlandish claims, take a page from Cat Drivers book and back it up with facts!
Just trying to figure out what is going on with this thread. EatSleepFly isn't claiming to be a corporate captain, just that he knows someone who is. This thread was originated by someone looking for pointers on how to break into the corporate side of things. So I regards to that I think the biggest thing is showing your face once in a while so the cp gets to know you. I know several corporate positions that have been filled recently and I don't recall ever seeing job postings for them. I know in at least one of the cases the guy who got the job hadn't even handed in a resume...but he had stopped by enough to obviously make an impression.
Some operators require previous jet experience, some don't...I don't think there's any magic number number of hours or grey hairs that will get you a corporate job. As with most flying jobs networking and your attitude/personality are the keys here.

Would a corporate operator hire a 45 year old pilot that has logged at least 2000 hours total time where I would say about 1500 of that would be instructing? This person has grey hair and he is a colleague of mine at AC and he has 22 years airline experience working the ramp and instructing on the side.

We were discussing the idea that maybe he wants to move into the corporate field and was wondering with his non flying experience, very mature guy that knows alot about the airline because he works for one and his 2000 hours would help in any way in hooking up as a co pilot on a corporate jet.

I have read that they like to hire older guys because they want to show that they are not in it to get the time and run to the airlines. How true is this, I mean hiring older guys as pilots.

thanks and I guess any input would be greatly appreciated. The above pilot as I said is my colleague and I suggested he sign up and be a member on this forum.

thanks again

I made the jump to Corporate with 2100 hrs, no multi and flying a Caravan. The only reason I got this job, was because a good friend already worked there.

You have to build the connections, and dont burn bridges along the way.

I call NO BULL SHIT!!!!. I taught a guy how to fly, helped him get his first job then watched him get in a JET with 1001 hours. Mind you this was an extremely intelligent and gifted pilot (that is why I got him his first job). He spent a lot of his time networking and looking for that “greener grass“. He is now a corporate CAPTAIN with wet ink on his ATPL. Just like the other guys on here I wish I could say the aircraft type. NO BULL SHIT!

If your reading send me a PM.
