Skedge is 3 weekends off, one on call, uniforms totally provided (show up with socks, ginch, belt and shoes), cell phone provided, full benefits, employee RSP program (3% and up?), sim training, early mornings, long holds, good maintenance, nice paint, and free coffee, doughnuts, muffins, and newspapers.

Thats all I know. No idea what they pay.

Oh and maps/charts provided.

Wow CAL, that's rare. Ony 2 YC operators provide benefits, and very few outside of the big city. Virtually none of the AB health companies do.

at least 3 provide benefits. WJ, SWH, Aries....there's gotta be more. What about North Caribou? What about Suncor and Syncrude? The Other oil companies?

it's also amusing that "maps and charts provided" is something to crow about. I think it may be more common than you have experienced, or have been told about.

Oh it's just wierd after working for Borek and being told "Thou shalt have a black winter coat, black shoes, dress shirts, an new flight suit, tie, and enough winter gear to keep you warm in -40, and up to date current charts or your fired" and being given $150/ year to cover it all.

All the companies you listed are the creme of the crop. West Jet? Believe me I'd be there if I had the option. You don't just walk in off the street and get a job with Suncor or Syncrude. I mean they have the benefits and the skedge, and the good environment, for sure, and they don't use the "post it" system for snags. When I said only 2 I know of provide benefits I was thinking SW and NCA, but I guess I forgot about all the corporate companies.

From a 703/704 standpoint SW and NC are it in my books. Do you think Harvest would supply charts? I bet bar XH pays for your medical every year like Cariboo does eh? I mean 55 bucks is only 55 bucks, but that's a tangible benifit to me.

Anyway I didn't get the offer at swh but I'd say the'ye a pretty decent operator as far as I'm concerned. And if things changed where I am I'd sure go there. Unless of course Huges Air offered me a seat in PDQ. Or I got the chance to be Syncrude 21, or SUN.

BTW who is that Yankeee Siiieeeeyeerah Charlie dude? He cracks me up every time he replies to vectors 250 degrees with "I'yyyl put ttoooo fifty in the window fer yah!"

What a riot.

point taken. there's no doubt SW and NCA are decent operators. But honestly, i didn't realise that is was the norm to not have charts supplied. I knew that some really budget operators did it. That's a ridiculous practice. I understand to some degree why it is necessary. But why not give each pilot his own subscription and then you don't have to worry about them going missing? if you lose one, you replace it yourself. $150/yr? really? that is ludicrous. can you even get your CAP/Chart subscription for that? I have never and will never pay for my own charts and extreme weather gear unless the industry really really goes for shitter...well, then I might just bail out. 8)
