looking for work in fort McMurray
Does anyone know if there are immediate postions in Fort McMurray for a King Air first officer? I am aware of the cost of living...as I already have living arrangments!
King Air F/o
Air Mikisew is a good company, there are lots on the ground waiting for flying positions. Lots of high time guys too waiting to fly. They King Air 200 does not fly much and you will make about 30k a year.

First officer
Apply and see if you get a job, when guys are hired before ramp guys they get all depressed. I have seen some people talk about commiting suicide. Some people take it really serious.

Tell us what you really think, crazyfucker. Don't hold back.
I can't believe that people actually apply for ramp postions. They don't realize that there are people in the oilpatch working their ass off. If you want a job on the ramp, get an oilpatch job for two years. I want to see pople freeze and know what it's like then go to the ramp. But if companies hire people without Northern experience while I was working in the patch, I would probably kill the guy managing the ground operations and the scumbag that he hired.
Seriously though - promoting from within is a good idea. You breed loyalty among your employees, and even if they haven't been promoted yet, it shows them that the carrot on the end of the stick is real when they see their co-workers moving up. The problem is that some folks seem to feel that they're entitled to the next available promotion by virtue of seniority without regard for merit.
Sometimes hiring externally is necessary. It's not possible or not financially viable to upgrade your existing employees to fill the position. However, if it becomes a frequent practice, then morale begins to drop amongst the employees hoping and waiting for a taste of that carrot. I've seen previously productive workers become bitter when they were passed over one too many times without explanation.

Please don't tell my mother that I work in the Oilpatch...she still thinks that I'm the piano player at a whorehouse.

Crazyfucker...
I hate to point out the obvious buddy, but if I was a chief pilot I wouldn't even dream of hiring somebody with your attitude to right seat on my aircraft. What the hell are you on - "we will make their lives so miserable they will wish they were not flying at all"???!! Maybe you want to grow up and accept reality a bit? So like what kind of mafia mob mentality are you guys running up there at Mikisew? Hopefully you don't represent the majority up there in Fort Mac!...

Me thinks crazyfucker has been passed over. Maybe more than once. It is a shitty deal when a loyal and hard working employee has been passed over but who said life was fair. Life is a bitch right up until you die. Just get over it.
The average pilot, despite the somewhat swaggering exterior, is very much capable of such feelings as love, affection, intimacy and caring.
These feelings just don't involve anyone else.

fort Mcmurray
Fort Mcmurray is very expensive and it is very boring to live in.

Re: Bitterness
Besides the fact that this dude may be on speed, I think he has fried some brain cells...maybe from too much time in the wanking pit? Be careful of him iamflyboy!crazyfucker wrote:Fort Mcurray is a crazy fucking town. Ok i will be a nice guy apply to us we all want you high time guys. Air Mikisew is a good company, and for the guys on the ramp @#$! them they don't deserve to fly. i was just standing up for ramp guys because I was one. And Air Mikisew is not a happy place to work. If they don't like you nobody will talk to you, if the management doesn't like you they cut you off booking sheet. So I suggest you applying to McMurray Aviation where you can get 1200 hours of pic time a year.

Just a simple question about employment and I can't believe the bitterness in some of you! I did my time on the ramp and don't have 250 hours and I am not about to take another ramp job as there are too many flying jobs at this point in time. Finally the industry favors us pilot not the industry telling us what to do. I agree with flyboy in the fact that sometimes a company needs to hire outside, if there ramp inhouse guys don't meet the qualifications and so that is why I asked... I would like to know from someone who is working from Mikisew how many guys on the ramp have more than 1000hours?

You've finally made it in Aviation when you nolonger work in a city which begins with Fort, Port, Prince, or Saint. Or leave aviation and stay in a Fort.

Edited posts
Nice to see certain posts here 'edited for content'..... Probably because the author realized that they were excessively inappropriate. Actually they are still rather inappropriate, just not to the same extent..... at least nobody is getting killed now. I know that jokes are all well and good, but safety and professionalism are two things that shouldn't be joked about.
We need to laugh
Yes we all need to laugh though, its helps us deal with stress. I was laughing so hard I fell off my chair. Its a freedom of speech, people shouldn't take it seriously. Theres lots of bullshit in aviation but there is in any job. I bet Fort Mcmurray has lots of problems and the pilots probably have lots of problems too. It was a good joke for April 1st.
CrazyFucker your a crazyfucker, keep it coming!
