Wow ok, so according to my friend (she may or may not be right…) Hubbard was totally against religion and was a 100% atheist. Then on one drunken night with his friends he bet he could make a religion that people would follow… Which he would then eventually mock his followers for believing in his BS… but after the $$ started to flow in and he was making more off his church than his writing he put off the joke… And I mean, who wouldn’t want to be the head of their own religion….
I looked into starting a religion a few years back. Apparently, the Canadian Government views them as a charitable organization, so if you can convince the gov't that it's a real religion, then it's a real religion. I wonder who's campaign Hubbard payed off to get his BS registered in Canada...
istp I thought you might have been old enough to remember this, but in the early 80's they spent several years fighting the IRS and finally won in supreme court. The government tried to prove they weren't a religion the scientoligist won ....barely
Yeah, someone did make it up, his name is L. Ron Hubbard. Gives some insight into the mental status of people like Cruise and Travolta. It also proves that the ability to earn money is, in their case and many others, inversely proportional to their IQs, which are obviously about the same # as their age.
