Type Approval & your OC

Post by Spitfire »

Does anybody know how long it takes on average for the paper pushers at TC to add a new type of AC to an existing OC. I believe they tell people 30 days, I'm wondering what the reality is.

Depends. As long as you are staying within 703, and the aircraft is already commercially registered in Canada, it shouldn't take too long. I'm thinking in the order of a month or so (remember summer vacations coming up at TC will undoubtedly mean staff shortages)

They will need to inspect a new type to your fleet to see that all the required stuff is installed, stickers, placards, etc... If you are changing your oc from 703 to 704 or worse 705, the wait will be well over a year. If you are importing an aircraft from south of the border, prepare to wait 6 months minimum.

You will need an approved maintenance schedule for the aircraft as well.

Spitfire :

Drivel?

You should maybe check your facts.

I can prove that TC can and will stonewall you for years, if they want to.

I can also prove that you can have everything proper and conform to CAR's and TC can and will stonewall you for years...............

It all depends on who you are.

Hey Cat,

SD is a personel friend, we're just ribbing each other a little. I'm too have enjoyed having transport probe every orfice they can and even try to find a few I didn't know I had. I'm well aware of the ability transport has to turn the smallest item into an excuse, I was just looking for an average.
