Jazz - 200 more?

Post by Localizer »

Just wondering how much truth to the rumour that there will be another 200 being hired at Jazz. Any internals have the scoop? If so does that mean there will be no break from the current hiring trend. (20 per month or so)

Thanks in advance ...

ive heard:

1. 200 more hires to go
2. no more hires till the fall... at that time those in the current pool will be hired
3. 50 more hire to go
4. one last Groundschools in MAY
5. 3 more Groundschools till june
6. nothing till the next bid
7. I also heard that they are FAT with pilots and they will be laying off (really doenst make sense unitl the next bid then im sure thats what will happen)
8. Last but not least... They will only hire according to who ever leaves for Air Canada or any attrition.
9. I heard they are going ot double thier FLEET as well.

Maybe i should start making some more up to add to the list...

I REALLY DONT THINK ANYONE KNOWS WHATS GOING ON... feel sorry for the guys who are waiting for the medical calls though...

Sorry to burst the bubble here fellas. I was contacted in early March and did the preliminary phone interview (you know, the one where they ask if you're sure 34k a year is ok). Unfortunately I am half way across the globe and was not able to go any further with the hiring process. I have just received word from HR that hiring has stopped until the fall. I will be put in a pool and have been asked to continue updating my workopolis account. I guess the other side of right place at the right time is wrong place at the right time. Bit of a bummer. But if this rumour about mainline picking up 200 or so guys is true, this may just be a temporary glitch. Hope so.

Take what HR people say with a grain a salt, they only know what they are told and I am sure they aren't told much. The groundschool in May will conclude the hiring that was needed to fill the last bid. That bid did not factor in people leaving, and plenty of people have left in the last year. What I can see happening is a small pause in hiring until the next bid is out. Flight ops has said that the bid would happen in June at the latest, that might be a sign that they want this bid to happen earlier than the regular July bid so that they can sort out where they will need people, allowing them to resume the hiring ASAP, or maybe they simply meant July and I read too much into it. I specifically asked if the hiring was done after the May course until July and I got a smirk from Cal and he said "to be announced". Something that is fact is that flight ops stated that they are hiring some 200 more people, and a memo was circulated through the training department telling instructors to prepare for 200 more new hires. They were also doing sim evals as of last week.

Things can change of course, I don't think AC is taking Jazz guys at the volume that was thought, although AC doesn't seem to have spooled up the hiring quite yet, there were only 8 guys in the last course I think.

Then again if George decides to drop a nuke on Iran because of his grand vision for the middle east and gas doubles, then maybe we will all be looking for work
