Conservatives pledge to scrap $12 air security tax.
As it stands it probably doesn't take much to convince this crowd to vote conservative but this has got to be the clincher.

The Security Tax was nothing more than a money grab by the liberals almost none of it went to actual security. And I think we still have the highest security tax in the world even greater than the US wich arguably needed improvment the most due to the threat level and outdated aviation infrastructer. Any bets on whos going to win the election, is Ontario going to pull there collective head out of there arse and wake up to the liberals and relize were not a bunch of gun toting, bible thumping, rednecks out west. not that theirs anything wrong with gun toting.

Hang on a sec... Assuming (always a dangerous thing) that there was actually an increase in security, then if we cut the $12 fee, won't the government simply have to shell out the amount required to keep the security apparatus in place - without any offset in revenue?
Say, what's that mountain goat doing up here in the mist?

PC all the way...I'm all for anything that makes me keep more than 25 cents on my hard earned dollar. It's all about tax reduction and responsible spending. The LIbs will probably get voted in again as they always do...by default. Wish these guys could figure out that any money saved by personal tax cuts will be pumped back into the economy. Money saved will ultimately become money spent for 90% of us.
i am definitely canted to the right... but the unfortunate thing is that i don't trust any party anymore. i nurture a theory (not a terribly original one) that even those who do get into politics with good intentions eventually give up trying to swim upstream and fight an up-hill battle and end up doing what's best for them... not what's best for me. (which is their job, right?)
i also can't help but suspect ulterior motives even when i hear a terrific proposal like scrapping security fees. to me it all comes back to that idiot we voted in as mayor of toronto and his bridge killing platform. the tories don't care about the security fees--just as miller didn't care about the bridge--they care about winning votes by making us THINK they care.
anyway, that said... i'm being a typical canadian: whining and b*tching and not actually doing anything about the things that bother me.
