Millionaire Pilots?
Is anybody that post's on here a millionaire. If so, what's your story. Good investments, company on the side, own your own aviation company? Let's hear it!

Frax Jets
There will be lots of VLJ's and lots of opputunity for lots of folks to get time in high level airspace in little jets. BUT and again, BUT.-- Only if someone (and their insurance company) is willing to take the chance on getting the type rating and letting that pilot loose with their client.
It's a brand new world for young pilots. And it's going to be just as difficult as any other part of aviation,------

You just can't let it go, can you Mike?tanker pilot wrote:Yeh they all work for the Ontario Government flying CL- 415 ask any of them they will say they are.
A total of seven posts on AV CANADA and all of them posted as a taunt to Ontario's 415 pilots. You need to get a life buddy.
John Holmes. Sorry you're not getting the answer your looking for. I think its a good question, because you probably want to create a good life for yourself. To be honest, I don't know the answer to your question, but its good to track that information down, because that's where you need to set your standards. Remember that good people are the biggest enemy of the great people. Don't listen to the people who tell you that your going to be a poor pilot, because you'll be content when you discover that you are. If you look at the guys who've created wealth for themselves, you'll learn how to do it for yourself. Pilots seem to want to watch other pilots fail & be broke. I don't know why that is. I guess misery loves company. So don't let the losers drag you down. Just be better than that. Go get your million. Then get another one.

A hundred years ago, a million dollars was an impressive amount of money. However, after a hundred years of compounded government mismanagement and inflation, a million dollars really isn't very much money.
However, a billion dollars, now you're talking ... nine zeros is real. Six zeroes, well .... some places I've been, that doesn't even buy a very impressive house. Heck, you can't even buy a new piddly little King Air for six zeroes (shrug).

I am extremely flattered, no really I am that we occupy so much of your thought process. I can't wait for your 8th post.Yeh they all work for the Ontario Government flying CL- 415 ask any of them they will say they are.

I met a guy in his 50's a couple years ago (in a bar) who claimed to be very rich and also own his own Lear Jet and flew it around for business - or when ever he needed to go on vacation. So the fishing expedition begins.....Oh and I need to mention that he was hitting on a much younger female who happened to be a friend of my wife. Now with the stage set....
Then I asked him what type of Lear and he said, "Oh you know, the small business one...." - hmmm I say to myself. I could have sworn they were all small business ones....this is getting good.
Then I asked him how much time he had (now it gets good), "Oh about 40000 hours". "Really??" I feigned to be impressed. Now with the hook set.....
I then asked him, "How long have you been flying?". "Oh about, 15 years - once my business really took off I started flying for fun."
So then I asked him, "So you've been flying for 15 years and have 40000 hours of experience? Well as far as I understood it, you can only fly 1200 hours per year and most airline pilots only do 800 a year - so to get 40000 hours - an average airline pilot would have to fly for 50 years full time to get that much experience. If you say you've only been flying for 15 years - that means you're flying more than double the legal limit every year for 15 years all while running your multi million dollar business. How is that possible??"
Well at this point seeing that the woman he was trying to impress is now laughing at him, he becomes VERY angry and says, "Well my son could kick your ass!!!" and storms away. I love this story....
Anyway, I guess I still haven't met any millionaire pilots...only, apparently, a wannabe.

In my experience, the richer someone is, the less likely they care about whether or not you know it. There are always spectacular, massively insecure exceptions, but I suspect you have met very wealthy pilots and don't even know it.
Richest pilot I know (1/2 billion USD), I simply knew as a commercial helicopter pilot. Very quiet guy, a lotta hair, turns out he OWNED the very expensive twin-turbine helicopter he was flying. For the longest time, I thought he was just the hired help. I don't know much about helicopters, but I can't imagine it costly less than a couple million. He bought it new, from Bell.
Another rich (I guess) pilot I know, is worth around $100 million USD. You'd never guess it, until you saw his cars and airplanes. He owns Ferrari and Porsche convertibles, a Sea Fury, a T-28, a highly modified T-6, a decathlon, etc, etc. Think he sold the turbine aero commander, wants a Citation.
Oh gosh, I know another (sorta rich) pilot, probably around the $50 or 100 million USD mark. Very quiet guy. Great collection of WWII airplanes, just loves them. Not an *sshole at all.
