What is most important to you in aviation?
What do you want out of aviation the most?
The coveted heavy metal job? Is it lifestyle, location, chicks, the fancy uniform. What would you rather do instruct (if you had a good paying job), be a co-jo, a captain, sit sideways? Bush, medivac or instructing.
Basically would you trade the way to the heavy metal or dream job, if someone offered you good cash to stay flying the 185 on floats? Do you like working the tundra, being away from civilization?
What is your dream job in aviation?
Cheers

well for me i'd like things to work out this way. while i'm still young i'd like to bang off as many of the "cool" jobs as possible. those being the jobs that attracted me to aviation. (medivac, arctic, other country, offstrip...etc) all the while working towards a "good" lifestyle job. one that would allow me to spend time with the "wife" (if she's still around at that point)
now what that job will be....well i'm not sure yet. airline? corportate? charter? who knows? ask me in 10years or so. at this point i'd like it to be a jet of some sort.
so to give your question a simple answer it would be....
A JET JOB (of any size) THAT ALLOWED ME TO HAVE A GOOD LIFESTYLE. AND MEMORIES OF MY YOUNGER YEARS THAT MAKE ME HAPPY. NO WHAT IF'S.
take care.
jet.

Well assuming a seat never comes open on Playboy's DC-9? Oh they sold it?

I guess for me, 60K (or more) a year flying any twin engine plane would suffice. Even a well maintained Ho or Golden Eagle with benefits, vacation time, and a decent schedule, and location, and I'll put my 'big jet envy' aside.

Me, I would like to fly warbirds for collectors all around the world owned by people with enough money that they think nothing of paying good wages and supplying the best of living conditions.
Also I would like to only work when I felt like it and have the choice of saying no anytime I don't feel like working.
My next gig will be in about ten days and the location will be Amsterdam, with some driving around Europe for something to do.
Oh, I also get to fly in the big jets but only as a passenger.

The hardest thing about flying is knowing when to say no
After over a half a century of flying no one ever died because of my decision not to fly.

What I want is not from aviation but in reincarnation. When I die, I would like to be reincarnated as a rich womans pet dog!!! AhAHAH The good life. If you can't eat it , F@#ck it, If you can't f#$@k it piss on it.
The average pilot, despite the somewhat swaggering exterior, is very much capable of such feelings as love, affection, intimacy and caring.
These feelings just don't involve anyone else.

Oldtimer, you kill me lol
What do I want most out of aviation....
A job that is fun, that I look forward to every day. A boss that isn't pushy, customers that understand limitations, a paycheque and schedule that allows me time for myself.
I'm having an issue with the pushy boss thing at the moment

Hey Pete, here is an offer.
Come out to B.C. and the Duke and I will take you sailing and operate on you and remove your brain and replace it with helium.
Then you will be qualified for the Thunder Bay job.
If nothing else my exposure to the management of OMNR taught me why the system is FUBAR.
By the way how is Ron. doing since he was transferred to T.B.?

LT said it. Notice that aircraft type doesn't figure in as an important aspect. Sure, many people suffer from big airplane envy. However to me, I figure it's like having a big humongous member (who doesn't want one) but having an unattractive, frigid, insensitive and malodorous mate to use it with.LT wrote:Job Security

A good airplane - with round engines on it, good maintenance, lots of flying, a comfortable (but not fancy) home to return to and a good mate when you get there. And mustn't forget the dog, and she would like a resident squirrel.
Some respect would be nice....
