I think people’s allergies should be taken into consideration. I’m not allergic to pets, but I am allergic to perfume – I get terrible headaches from it. Should pets get the boot? Will That Be Window Or Aisle, Misery or Comfort? - May 12, 2006

It’s a first class decision by Air Canada.
Starting this fall, the air carrier will no longer allow pets in the passenger cabin of its planes. This after a former Saskatchewan resident suffered a serious allergic reaction when the man beside her brought a cat on board a WestJet flight.
WestJet intends to still let people bring smaller animals into the cabin. Bigger dogs already have to be in the cargo hold.
Well, good for Air Canada for clearing the recycled air on its planes of pet dander and here’s hoping WestJet figures it out soon.
We don’t allow smoking on planes, for obvious reasons and I don’t think they serve peanuts anymore, for obvious reasons, but in 2006, people who are allergic to pets still have to deal with the ignorance of those who don’t think it’s a serious concern.
It is. And people shouldn’t have to endure the misery of severe allergic reactions just so someone else can have Fluffy or Sparky with them. The cabin is for people. Animals of all sizes go in the cargo hold. I know that sounds harsh at a time when people take their pets to spas and hold birthday parties for them, but here’s a news-flash--they aren’t people, they’re critters. And they’ll be waiting for you with your luggage. If you don’t like that, you might do what people used to do....
Leave them behind.

We picked up a new "Fluffy" (name changed to protect the dog) in the 'Peg a couple months ago. Nobody around us for a couple rows ahead and behind. He's one of those little rat dogs the size of my old dog's head. Short-hair, and hypo-allergenic.
Had the FA's fawning all over him. He got to YYC un-traumatized, and a certain sensitive WJ Fo who was hanging around us (my old FO) got a new phone number.
One of those win win situations.

there's nothing more annoying than sitting beside someone with a cat that won't stfu, or some yappy dog all day long. There is no place for pets in the cabin.
