Pretty arrogant to think of ourselves as 'the best', but what the hell, if we don't someone else will.

I would HIGHLY recommend Dave Budd at Ocean Air in Victoria. They operate out of Pat Bay. Great airplane and great instructor. Several years ago I did a 50 hour course with them. It was a great experience.

If you need any details, feel free to PM me.

Cheers,

Mark Coffin in eastern PEI does a kick ass job. Has real life experience too. you do both lakes and ocean work. He will put u through your paces.

Think he has a flight school now too. Tradewins........ ?

And if your in Ontario I am told there are some wicked instrutors in YHD.

Just make sure you train on the type of plane you own.

Do it on the West Coast. You have mountains, valleys, tides, rivers, traffic, airspace, parks, high-altitude, saltwater, freshwater, bad weather, good weather, views, amazing seaplane bases, relatively good prices, excellent instruction. This is the home of flying floats and you have to be good to do it for very long.

Check out Pat Bay Air http://www.seaplane-training.com/ or Ocean Air. Shawn's a great guy and an amazing pilot with Pat Bay and Dave with Ocean Air is really good also. It all depends on what you're willing to spend. It'd be best to get the instruction done on your airplane and I'm sure you could work out some sort of deal with someone, depending on where its located.

Elmhirst Resort was a fun place to do the rating. I don't fly floats for a living, so I can't comment on how "valuable" it was as far as career-type training goes.

When I went, you could get a room (or cabin) for really cheap (something like $60 per night; normally $250) so you could take someone with you for a nice night.

Not a bad spot at all and only 2 hours or so from downtown T.O.

My experience at Fort Langley Air was great. The instructor
had well over 10 000hrs with experience with floats since the
60's.
