Anyone catch Harper's speech?

Post by mellow_pilot »

So I was watching TV, relaxing and all, when I come across a live feed from a swearing in cerimony for new military recruits. Harper is up there talking about the terror arrests, our mission in Afganistan blah blah blah... and it occurs to me, I've heard this somewhere before.

The I couldn't quite place it til the end of his speech and then it hit me. He's a carbon copy of Bush.

Up until now I've tried to be open minded about the guy and give him a chance. But this latest is the proverbial straw. The US style rhetoric and actions of Harper are really starting to annoy me. I was so hopeful that he would change things for the better, but it seems he's just using the Bush blueprint for disaster.

I just can't figure out how the idiot can look at the US example and go, "hey, let's try that. Seems to be working out ok for them."

Do you think Bush was the first to refer to a current engagement in a speech infront of soldiers? WOW! Guess what sometimes Stephen Harper has to take a shit just like George Bush. OMFG it's a conspiracy!!!!!

Whats this...trouble in Paradise?

It's simple really. You vote for someone with the personality of a wet dish rag and as human as a piece of cardbord and the intellect of sandal...you get just that.

But hey...it's not your fault. Everyone makes mistakes.

Don't sweat the small stuff. All this means in 4 years from now we'll just try to get back into the black again with a new fiscal policy on bringing our national debt out of the billions or even trillions.

But at least you folks had your say. A small price to pay so that anyone from any corner of this country has a turn at running the country.

I think we let the commi's have a go at it next!

Yeah, let's re-elect the Libs - at least we knew they were crooks, liars and ready to live in their culture of entitlement - at our expense.

Finally - Canada is starting to show it has a back bone. It appears you do not have one.

Glad you dislike the man who has kept all of his election promises to date. After all, why should we expect that to happen? It has always been expected that a politician should be a liar at minimum.

Perhaps because he was speaking to a group of folks with military aspirations he tailored his speech to them?

Tell you what - when he speaks to you he can speak of illegal spending, illegal advertising, taking money from chidren and illegal diseased blood. I suspect you would support that.

Time to grow up - perhaps get out from under Moms' apron strings and have a look at what the world is really like. Fortunately there are more that are NOT like you.

It allows you the chance to whimper without fear of persecution.

I suppose you figure the Brits to be assholes as well?

So go back to your hole and have another joint - the world has changed - maybe not for the better - but it has changed.

Your chance to squeal like a pig in response to my comments - I am out of this one

Final question - What are YOU doing to make the country better?

Ah, so many people to respond to...

CYYZ:
WTF? Are ya new? That was so freaking random I have no idea what to say. Have a nice day.

DD:

No, I don't think that Bush is the first to make a speech infront of soldiers. Losts of leaders do that. Harpers speech had very little to do with appealing to soldiers or military members. He was grandstanding to the public, using the swearing in as a back-drop. As for bodily functions, hope you're regular.

IAB:

I didn't vote for the moron, I just hoped he'd change the things that need changing and leave the things that work alone. Figured I wouldn't judge the man til he had his chance. I've seen enough. And don't worry, it won't be 4 years.

Cougar41:

I really don't want to see the Liberals back in. They're idiots. Infact none of the major parties really appeal to me, but hey, that's democracy.

On backbone: I think it's great that were finally getting invloved in Afganistan, I never said different. I just don't think it's a good idea to emulate the most hated country in the world. Especially when we could do so much better. My spine is fully intact and I have no quams about standing up for what I believe in.

On Promises: Sure, he kept promises. Wonderful. It doesn't mean they were good idea, that the majority agree with them or that this makes the things he didn't promise and is doing any better. If I promise to kill you and do, am I a good guy?

He didn't tailor his speech to military recruits, he tailored it to mental midgets who fall for the party line and don't ask questions.

Just because I disagree with Harpers policies dosent mean I support illegal actions and horrible tradegies. That's poor logic, I suggest you remove head from ass, then type.

I am all growed up. I wear big boy pants now. I have not seen my moms apron in about 15 years.

Who said anything about the Brits?

I've never done drugs in my life. Not once. Can you say the same?

What am I doing to better the country? I'm learning as much as I can to make informed decisions when I vote, rather than listen to commercials and choose the guy who says tax cuts the most times. I am questoining authority when necessary and supporting it when appropriate. I am applying to the military inorder to serve my country, defend Canada at home and abroad and be part of the solution rather tahn sit on the side lines and wave flags.

For everyone:

Why is it that disagreeing with Harper makes you automatically agree with the Liberals? I honestly think that increasing military spending, improving diplomatic relations with our closest ally, and ending patronage/corruption is a good thing.

This doesn't mean, however, that I think adopting policies on justice, diplomatic policies, and social services which have been proven costly and ineffective is a good plan.

Corporate Joe, maybe I'm not sure, but obviously one of our posters doesn't like progress, so I just figured he wanted to go back to them "ole days."

PS. I'd also like to mention, how well the media has done to spin this, "oh, look he's at a military base, and so was bush last week, lets play this shit so the idiots of this country think they're identical, and lets delete the stop where he's at the orphanage, hospital, veteran house, school and everything else..." THE MEDIA IS TRYING TO @#$! WITH YOUR HEAD! Some of you are really good "free thinkers."

David Duke is a Republican, and was a Democrat. Abraham Lincoln was a Republican. Being from one political party or another has nothing to do with racism.

Yeah, like his senate reform promise, he kept that one for almost a week before appointing a senator so he could name him to cabinet.

Or his outrage at Stronach's defection to the libs; funny how it wasn't so outrageous to entice a lib to defect the day after the election.

Why do people expect politicians to be liars at the minimum? Because nobody can remember one that wasn't since the days of Honest Abe. 8)

cyyz - just so you know, we don't need to read your opinion on every thread on this forum. although, sometimes we're really lucky and get to read 4 or 5 responses on the same topic. What are you at now? 4000 posts and still nothing helpfull or intelligent.

Please consider doing something usefull, like playing in traffic.

I wish you the best of luck in this endeavour.

Just 3 threads I'm not involved in.... But I'm glad to know that you don't want my opinion... But luckily I realise that some people started a war so I could continue to have the same freedoms that I had before they started that war, and luckily the same nations that began those wars are taking away our rights and freedoms, but atleast we're getting a substitute, I mean, sure it was nice to have free speech but now we can keep our mouths shut, but 2 guys can get married, what a compromise...

But I like I said, I made a note of said comments... Go play in traffic with your children, we'll try our best...

thanx for your vast contribution... =)

Does anyone not find it strange that in no time after jackass was installed as our pm, we end up with a "big time" terror scare. What's next, orange and red flashing signs telling us how scared shitless we should be?? Come on people, we can do better than a bush clone running this country. This is all part of the big plan, had Harper been pm 4 years ago, we would have been bringing our troops back from Iraq by the hundreds - in freaking BODY BAGS!!!!. AND FOR WHAT??? What sort of cost is THAT in relation to a freaking sponsorship scandal?? If harper pulls off a majority, we are totally screwed, maybe anyways, but people need to get their heads out of their collective asses, fast.

And the 3 tons of fertalizer was for...??? Vegetable garden? I take the RCMP at face value. They wouldn't accuse without some reason. The 17 are innocent til proven guilty and they'll have a chance to plead thier case.

I am also not about to be scared by them, the government telling me to be afraid, or the media blowing this whole deal out of proportion with their interviews of 'security experts' and the like.

I'm going to go to work, drive a bobcat for a while. There's too much crap I have to worry about as it is, I'm not going to change my life over some pissed off 19 year olds plans to blow his gonads off.

Why is it that the political and social left is so obsessed with the States?
If Stephen Harper talks to his troops, there are complaints that he is only doing it because he wants to be like the United States. To tell you the truth, as a conservative myself, I am sick of hearing about the United States, and I consider myself a suporter! Maby you guys should stop talking about them if you hate them so much, and maby than we will be respected as a soverign nation.

Hi CYYZ, sorry i couldn't get back to you sooner, but some of us actually have to work.

I'm glad you managed to find a few threads that you hadn't posted on. Must have taken awhile to track those down. I'm sure by now you have fixed that problem.

In regards to your post about Craig Air, I'd personally appreciate it if you would keep your mouth shut about things you obviously have no idea what you are talking about. Your exceeding amount of ignorance is astounding.

Gotta run, those damn kids are out in traffic again.

Kind regards,

Your friend,

Wow, lots of angry people posting here. I read somewhere that you should never email (or post I imagine) something that you would'd say to someones face. If some of you had spoken to me (or even someone else in my presence) the way you posted on here you would be picking up your teeth on the way out. For chirstsakes people feel free to discuss anything you want but name-calling is a waste of everybody short time on the planet.
The real answer to all the worlds problems is people treating each other with some respect; malicious posts are part of the problem.

PS please bash me for posting something off topic.
