I've only been at the company for a few months, but I have yet to feel that kind of pressure, nor have I witnessed any wrong doing. Never have we taken an A/C that was ufit to fly - that I, or the CPT knew about.

I have no problems walking onto a Jazz machine as a passenger or pilot.

I was wondering when someone would put this article on here. When reading the article, keep in mind that the main "whistleblower" is also the main union guy. The AME's have been a little overworked (it's true...who isn't) but they also have some other beefs with the company which will lead one to believe that this is just a union ploy to get something out of the company or to punish the company for not giving them something.

I too have never been part of a crew that was being pressured to take an unfit a/c. If there was a concern, it was immediately addressed and everything is legal within the MEL and not to mention very safe. When this article was printed, everyone in the crew room scratched their heads in disbelief.

This could be a case of the union spazzing out. The Star reporters also seem to take great delight in interpreting the numbers and stats the way that they want in all the articles on this series.

Get ready for an audit and most likely a shutdown. TC has already said they'll do the former so the latter is inevitable. Even if the allegations are just a union ploy; TC will find something, real or bogus. Remember their motto; "at Transport Canada; we're not happy, til you're not happy!"

Meanwhile, Transport Canada yesterday said it was launching an audit into Jazz's mechanical operations in the next three months.

LoL, sorry KAG, think Shit might be right.....

and that it needs detailed information about incidents in order to properly investigate.

Guess that explains the suspension, can't be on work property if suspended, can't give details....

they've lodged complaints with Transport Canada inspectors about conditions at Jazz without response.

ROFL, what else is new...

triggered by 14 missing screws that should have secured the part on the wing — was caused by sloppy maintenance and the "undesirably low" ratio of experienced to inexperienced mechanics.

Idiot AME's, sitting on their ass during their unionised break and lunch and not doing their job, and then signing it off because of "time limitations."

I'm willing to bet that when the audit comes back and everything is OK, the TO Star won't have anything to say about it.

The only maintenance issue I've ever had is when my flight is delayed because maintenance hasn't towed the aircraft over in time.

I think sometimes the maintenance guys are in a contest with the baggage handlers as to who can screw things up the most.

There's no way you could know if your plane was late for maintenace issues unless you spoke directly to the lead or the actual AME. There wouldn't be a log entry if the work was not c/o or if parts were not avilable to fix a defferal it would just go on as is.
I do still think that A/C and Jazz both have it cery easy with A/C.
You could never get away with thr shit that is pulled at A/C at any other airline. TC and the QA dept would be on your ass so fast.
I don't know why but they seem to have a pass on many TC regulated and enforced processes.
WHen I was got in there I thought finally, these guy's will be by the book and straight as an arrow.
Was I ever surprised to find out they were worse than all the others, but the mangers talked a lot of crap. Some people bought it, others left.

Well, here again we have the Media spinning stories to sell their papers... I seriously doubt there is going to be a shutdown based on information that has already been documented. Who knows, maybe ACE/Jazz will be calling on their legal department to squeeze the Star.

The Star is bullet proof on this one; all they're doing is passing on allegations made by Jazz employees. Will ACE try to sue? Probably; after all, we all know lawyers don't make enough money and need the work.
