What everyone is missing is that Transat Vacations operates seperately from Air Transat ad Westjet operates flighs on behalf of Air Transat. Please correct me if I'm wrong. From what I know, this is how this all works on the east coast. The two carriers don't seem to operate flights for Transat Vacations at the same airport.
Also CanJet doing the passengers services for Air Transat itself seems to be going extremely well. I won't argue the quality of the two products against one another but I will say that CanJet provides excellent customer service and the seat pitch is fine on all the new 500's. So overall, CanJet is providing a good high quality service. The coast hugging should be over by this fall and that will make the flight times better.
Transat AT Inc. is the parent company of the subsidiaries Transat Vacations, Nolitours, and the airline Air Transat. Westjet does charter work for Transat AT Inc. - the parent company - and not the airline. I don't know which subsidiaries our charter flights are operated for but I'd imagine they are for both Nolitours and Transat Vacations or maybe even both on the same flight.. I'm not sure about that. Is Canjet doing the passenger services for charter flights on Canjet metal or for flights on Air Transat metal?

Here's a link to a press release from last year:

Canjet is handling passengers for Transat metal. I know how Transat is structured... but Westjet is flying for Air Transat as far as I know, not Nolitours or T vacations. Either way it's good business for all three airlines.

Cool didn't know that.

You obviously don't because Westjet is not flying for Air Transat, it is flying for Transat.

With all the above being said, It's good to see that our Canadian dollar is on the rise. I'm sure the southern flying will continue to expand with the demand of year round southern vacation packages being provided by the tour operaters and airlines.Hence lots of flying to go around for everyone. Like East Coaster mentioned, it's not having enough flying out there for everyone, rather having enough airplanes to meet the current demand that's out there.

I don't think that Canjet has a problem getting charter work for their aircraft and also expanding the fleet with new aircraft should not be a problem as their costs are undoubtedly lower than that of the competition. The problem in getting more work and more aircraft lies in attracting new pilots and keeping the present ones. Unless the current pilot salary and benefit package changes for the positive Canjet's growth will be stagnant or very minimal at best.

Just my opinion.

well said 737daytripper. I also think if we keep losing people, with the slow hiring... we'll have to park planes soon, but I hope this is not the case...all the best to FF and KR (and no not Ken Rowe) who just left us.

Hey Po'dcjer,

Good to see you have'nt lost your touch !!

With the charters and vacation tours on the up swing I think we all will be very busy !! I also agree with you having to keep our current staff and attracting new !! The way things are going in the Industry, there is going to be a big pilot shortage..

Anybody hearing anything about another raise coming in the near future, to help slow the mass exodus of pilots?

As for the pay raise, I heard that MM sent in a proposal for $15000 across the board, but I guess we will have to wait and see...

Do you Canjet guys know if that $35,000 is still around? Has this affected the amount of people applying?

Well that's not bad then, $30,000 is definetely more affordable then $35,000 :D J/K...is Canjet really losing that many people where they need this kind of promissary note? That, and do they still set their minimum time at 5000 hours as being a firm number? I've heard they'll hire people with a little bit less as well.

Hey guys, give it a rest already. Who in the hell do you think you are? Have you seen the latest proposed schedule ?
I will not be surprised when they cut back the flying and not hire more pilots.
You are starting to sound like a bunch of babies:

WAAA I can't eat anymore catering... (I am starving after my grueling 2 hour flight)

WAAA I need another 15K to stay.... (you would still leave if you were offered another job you idiot)

WAAA I should not have to work 40 hours a week like evereyone else cause I am a pilot...

WAAA I have to bad mouth the company because I have nothing better to do to improve my career...

Why don't you guys shut the hell up, suck it up and go to work like everyone else in the business. When you are not working, spend your time doing something that you enjoy that will relieve the high stress you must have built up when you had a hard time sleeping in the cockpit during your long 2 hour flight to YYZ without being catered to by the cookie pushers.

Grow up. I am sure you had harder times in your previous jobs. If not, why did you leave?

Just an opinion from another member of the company's Pilot group. Some people are getting sick and tired of hearing the whining...

If you dont like what people have to say, then get a life and stop wasting your time on a public web site. People have a right to express their opinions. Opinions are like A holes, everybody has one and sometimes they leave a bad taste in your mouth.

easy boys, easy. Why can't we all just get along...

I just gotta say something to 737 driver...Dude, you seem to be the one whining...

Proposed sched??? it's only the 15th it will be at least another 10 days before we see it. and if you've seen it, you must be a check guy and have weekends off, unlike the rest of who have had 1 off in four months.

Catering?? I'll give ya that one, it should make some of the F/A's thinner anyway.

15K??? somebody was just asking if anyone heard of a pay raise, your the whining about it. Oh, and if you haven't noticed alot of people are leaving...

40 hours ? we're not allowed to work more than that, dumbass.

Bad mouthing company? ..maybe if they made more effiecent pairings, and we wouldn't be stuck in a hotel all day (this pairing is good - 6 hours on a 3 day pairing WTF over), we wouldn't be so damn bored.

anyways, just my thoughts for the week...cheers

Just curious 737 Flyer...are you part of the 90%+ that voted to bring in ALPA? Or the <10% that declined? Either way you sound way more whiney than anyone else on here. Your comments illustrate how out of touch with the general mood you are.

And paternalistic comments like "grow up", "cookie tossers", "babies"...only serve to shine a light on the attitudes that some fear exist, and have now have had confirmed. Too bad. I understand you may have posted in frustration, but do you really think insults are helpful?

Good luck to the brothers at CJ.

Dude ,you have to breath, ok? Feel better? Good.
Thought I would clear the air for a bit , Oh and by the way for those who were wondering...

paternalistic -

benevolent but sometimes intrusive

benevolent -

having or showing or arising from a desire to promote the welfare or happiness of others; "his benevolent smile"; "a benevolent nature"

Cheers
