Looking for info on Skyservice, Transat.
Sun destiantion flying has always interested me. Wondering about schedule, pay, the ability to commute, passes with other carriers and so on.
Is it a good career choiced, or is it another "stepping stone" to get to AC.
Are there any senior pilots with either company on here, any thoughts?
Pro's, cons lets have it all.
Thanks.

If you have senior pilots at either company, I'd assume it wasn't a stepping stone since they're still there???
Doesn't SS still have pilots on furlogh?
So, you gave up a great job paying well for jazz to go down, and now you want to leave jazz and take another hit?? Aren't you guaranteed an interview at Jazz for Air Canada, so shouldn't you wait patiently.....
Just Curious as to why the sudden change of heart? The Pink Koolaid not as expected?
PS. and if I have my KAG's mixed up, sorry...

Nope it's me, the origional one...didn't know there was another...
As for leaving Jazz not in the foreseable future. I'm getting info, making a plan B, and C - gotta make backup plans.
But thanks for the concern though...
As for either them being a steeping stone to AC, a quick yes or no would tell alot about how happy the drivers are there. My thoughts anyway.
PS..YYZ, you'd ba amazed how many senior guys I've met from other companies that tell you DON'T do what they did, or to leave when you get the chance.

KAG: SSV is a great place but like anywhere else depending on your status you may be better off somewhere else. There has been some folks leaving for AC, Emirates, & HMY. Some left for better money, some for an easier commute or possibly a quicker left seat.
SSV does trans Atlantic flying also not just sun destinations.
Personally I am quite happy here and hope this will be my last employer. I am also lucky enough to hold a left seat.
There are no SSV pilots on furlough. There was talk of it but it never happened as the senior guys pitched in to help out the junior guys.

You don't really seem to be the type to bolt out the door (based on your post history etc...) but naturally, the post did draw some attention... Good Luck. I know a couple at TS and they say that over the past 6 years conditions have really improved there but I cant offer specifics, sorry.
KAG: none of my business, but why not go overseas? Any young, single pilot with a few thousand hours and turbine time should be looking closely at that option.
Declare non-residency. Earn a crapload of money, tax-free, and store it offshore. Decide whether or not to come back, down the road.

Hedley:
Have you ever been overseas? Its not what its cracked up to be in all honesty. Make a crap load of money? Where? Every legacy carrier is reducing wages including Cathay. Think real hard before you take that option. Oh and by the way, Contracts in other countries may change on a dime even aftter you sign.
The overseas money pot is not neccessarily what you may expect. My two cents.
Cheers

You have no idea how good we have it in Canada!
I believe he was talking about companies like Singapore, Emirates, Qatar, etc... Considering how difficult it is to get into the majors in Canada, maybe he wasn't really talking about making a career out of it, maybe he was referring to it as a good solid stepping stone. My opinion only here.
