D- Jet Photos… from today at CYXU

Post by l_reason »

I was driving home form work today and saw the plane behind the fence at Diamond. I was able to get a few good shots standing on my truck. I’m not a big fan of putting on a shirt and tie to fly a plane but I think I would if I got to play around with one of these.

I wonder if they wanted their plane shot.... Hope you got permission first, I can also see the white guy, hope his permission was had aswell, serious legal repercations can be taken by taking peoples pictures without their consent...

I disagree with that. Is that ramp private? If you can see it with your eyes you can snap it with a camera. Besides, I learned a long time ago....it's easier to beg for forgiveness than ask for permission.

Nice pic.

If they didn't want pictures taken of thier fancy new ultra-light, they wouldn't park it in plain vew of the road, so anybody can stop and take pictures. If it's in public view, go ahead, take pictures, any time, any place, just ask the paparazzi folks how that works. If you had half a brain, you'd already know this. ofc, you dont have half a brain, so, you'll probably try argue this too, get your your long winded half hearted 'I wish I was a lawyer' spew and ramble on for a page or two about nothing coherent.

Some day I'd like to see a whole day, and at least a dozen threads go by with absolutely no drivel input from cyyz. Sadly, dont expect that anytime soon, and it's one of the main reasons one tends to lose interest in the avcan forums after a while.

Your comparison is offside.

If he'd talked to someone there who'd asked that he please not take any photos... I guess he'd still have been within his rights, but on a human decency scale, to do so anyway, and then post the pics on the internet, would have been just nasty. Especially to an individual rather than to a corporation. 8)

There may not be any laws against being a dick... but that doesn't make it any less distasteful.

First off, it is illegal to photograph registrations of private aircraft. However Diamond already has pics of this aircraft posted up on a website. It is the manufacturers responsibility to cover up anything they dont want released, thats why most car makers (Lambourghini included) cover up their cars with tap or fake body kits when taking it out on the track. If its sitting on a tarmac, its fair game.

That's got me curious... Where can this law be found and to what or whom does it apply? Is it a provincial or federal law? Does it cover foreign private aircraft or just domestic? There are over 3000 photos of private Canadian aircraft (including their registrations) on Airliners.net so I'm wondering about the legal implications to the photographers...

Because most of the owners dont know of such website. Scanners are illegal in NY state, yet many still use em. Also most of the photographers dont use their real names when posting their pics. I know of a couple companies that have changed their registration because a picture of their plane was released and the person who shot it wrote down who it belonged to I think it was Telus that did it.

Besides every country has their own laws. Last thing anyone needs is a lawsuit from a major corporation.
