Try Toronto Airways at YKZ, I hear they have a DA40 for rent.

They do...I did their Empire Aviation/Diamond Aircraft G1000 transition course It was top notch....very profesional & the instructor (John) was very knowledgeable..........I remember glancing at their accual normal flight training prices while I was there & think'n that they were a lil expensive...but then again I wasn't realy look'n into the prices all that much as my course was being paid for me :)

I would imagine for the same reason other planes have glass...more reliable, more information, less scanning, better situational awareness, safer.

A single engine VFR plane does not need a glass cockpit. But a pilot who is penilily challanged and has money to compensate may want one.

Trust me, glass is nice to fly with, the more you have, the more you wish it could do. The reason a single needs it is because not everybody who wants to fly an airbus will ever get the chance to, so why not let those who can afford it, pay for it. Nobody needs a car with 600 ponies of a bike with a 1:1 power to weight ratio, but if I had the cash you bet I'd buy them.
