Last month worked 13 days, 6 on 5 off etc. with 2 weeks off in the middle

This month, 17 days. (training for 2) 6 on with 4 or 5 days off in between.

Bid how you want, 1 day pairings, 8 in a row or just the 4 on 2 off etc. I generally work 15-17 days per month (block holder)

Work at Jazz on the CRJ out of YYZ. Work 14 days this month. Essentially I get exactly what I want. (Except the big paycheque). Other than that, awesome schedule.

You guys must be quite senior or work out east. Hard to get good schedules like that in YVR

unemployment has a great schedule too but it doesnt pay either. time to wake up boys and girls - you shoudnt need a part time job to subsidize your job at Jazz. thats why your paying union dues to avoid this shit

When you work X many days a month, are you flying or at the airport for the whole day? or do you get many pairings that would be from 0700-1500 for example, then your off for the rest of the day.

I try to get the hell out of Toronto as fast as I can and go west.

I've been at Jazz for 8 months, and am half way up the YYZ CRJ FO list.

The layovers can vary alot. If you get a good crew and enough time to have some fun, (12hrs plus) then they can be great. Get a couple of slam clickers (crew that disappear into their rooms until checkin time the next day. :? ) and the layover can be really boring. Where you are, what time you get in and how hard you have to work the next day can also have a big effect on the festivities. I've been at Jazz for almost 7 yrs and have had many memorable evenings....

First of all, Spruce Moose,

You generally work a morning or afternoon shift, mornings are early start and mid afternoon finish. Afternoons are later starts finishing like at midnight. But there are some that are just very looong. For those use you imagination. All within the contract and CAR's of course.

As for Golden Flyer,

You need to be abit more specific in what you are asking, "fun" could be construed in a number of different ways. If you are asking, do we get together for dinner and beverages, that all depends on the crew you are with, some do, some don't. All depends on the make up of the folks you are with.

Hope that is vague enough for you. Just kidding. You play it by ear depending on the people you are with.

Cheers

From the sound of things, Jazz sounds like a good place to work (other than the pay of course).

If pay wasn't an issue, are there any other problems at Jazz that would give one cause for concern.

Can anyone shed some light on what Jazz's future plans are? (routes, A/C expansion, etc)

Thanks much.

WHat other problems are you looking for? JAzz is the 2nd biggest airline in this country and with that comes the usual problems. Post 911 has been tough on us. We took pay cuts, lost 60% of our contract language that dealt with scheduling and have a management team made up of absolute MORONS!!!

Like someone from AC posted in another thread, there is constant pressure to fly longer hours, more MEL items and just do anything to keep the aircraft on sched.

Meanwhile, in the background, there is JR and team of monkeys bragging to the everyone about how effecient the airline is now what a good job they have done blah blah blah.

If it weren't for shitty pay, shitty schedule, constant pressure to fly in weather, understaffed maintenance(meaning more broken planes), attendance management programs, harrassing guys on sick leave, shafting us out of our negotiated profit sharing etc..., this would be the perfect airline to work for.

On that note, it sounds to me like WJis about the only (big) airline in this country where they don't bend their employees over every chance they get. You wan't to work for team red, the conditions are listed above.

Are there a lot of RJ FO's in Toronto who want to go out west, YYC or YVR? How about to Montreal?

I guess what I'm asking is, are the bottom 11 FO's in YYZ gonna get sent to these other bases to fill the vacancies, or are there enough people with good seniority who actually want to go there?

I guess we'll find out for sure when the positions are awarded. I'm just cuious to see what you all think.

I don't know of any 1000 hour pilots thathave been hired. Infact, Jazz got more o fthe high time pilot than AC simply because we did our hiring a year before AC got wound up.

Get another 2000 hours and you will have a good chance.

First question: absolutely.

Second question: I could only make a guess.
