These people who were on those boats have no idea what it's like being a refugee. The whine about 10 hours, have they seen the refugee camps in Africa? Some of those people have been there for years eating nothing but rice and laying around in shit.

People like to protest against the easy stuff "make peace not war" and all that B.S. Why are we as a country not up in arms protesting these people and their attitude towards our help.

The U.S dumped their people off in Cypress and said "There ya go your on your own. We got you to safety. You got here on your own now you can get back on your own."

I am sure the Lebanese first choice would have been to use the airlines also, but....correct me if I'm wrong.... I think their flights were cancelled.

People have grown accustomed to the comforts and instant-gratification of this high-tech world, and it's hard to adapt without them.

Even for Lebanese.

Now if any country, God forbid, was under complete bombardment as is Lebanon, we might see what the numbers really are. Israeli statistics, for example, suggest something like 200,000 North American immigrants, which would translate to about 20,000 Canadians, much of them after 1968.

Maybe you would hazard a guess as to how many would have given up their Canadian citizenship.

Also, in the last 10 years, about 2000 Israelis per year immigrated to Canada.... that's another 20,000 at least who may or may not be either here, or visiting Grandma in the home country.

So, if the airports were shut down, and the roads destroyed.... and they took two days to get to a port... and then waited in the hot sun for a day or two with none or minimal food or water,...all the while worrying whether Grandma was still safe and alive...now they are on a cruise from hell....and then the first thing they see when they get to "safety" was a Global reporter shoving a microphone into their face, asking "how's the trip?".....

I submit to you that a certain percentage of just about any human group on this planet will forget its manners and react with similar rants.

Icebound ----small item and I don't wish to "nit-pick", but you don't loose your Canadian citizenship unless you state so in a government-supplied document and therefore formally "renounce your citizenship". You don't even loose that citizenship even if you swear alligience to a different flag, UNLESS you ask for and fill-out the above-mentioned document. In otherwards, if you are born in Canada, leave when you wish and come back when you wish, BUT the minute your toe-nail passes into Canadian territory....you're Canadian all over again baby. You can stay up to two years outside Canadian territory and you still have the full Rights and benefits of our National Health Care Plan. So it's great to be Canadian because they just refuse to let go of you and welcome you home with open arms when you return. Try pulling that as a "national" of any other country on this planet.

The requirement for a massive refugee exodus from Israel has not not been tested lately, and we pray that it never has to be.

But it is interesting that the immigration of Israelis to Canada is not that much less than that of Lebanese... about 75%.
http://www.cic.gc.ca/english/pub/facts2 ... nt/13.html
I suggest, that, like with all ethnic groups, Canada is a flag of convenience for a certain percentage of those.

Now if the worst were to happen, I have no doubt that Israelis would not need as much government support for their exodus, because they are in a much better position to generate private outside funding as witness the 6 million in 15 minutes

http://www.israpundit.com/2006/?p=2007

... tax exempt, no doubt....

But I still wonder if a microphone got shoved in someone's face at the end of the harrowing ordeal, that he might not just vent in a similar fashion.

You will be happy to know that Mark Steyn takes up your cause vehemently in the most recent Macleans. Of course, once again, he is roasting the Lebanese because they are visible today, but I continue to assert that his description can apply to some percentage of any and all ethnic groups, including yours and mine.

Yes, I do believe that there should be some way to ensure a greater loyalty from New Citizens of Canada. (He!! I would like a greater loyalty from OLD citizens of Canada.)

But I do NOT believe in pillorying a single ethnic group for something a whole bunch of others in this Country would do in similar circumstances..... just because that particular ethnic group happened to get very unfortunate this month.

Oh by the way, the largest immigrant group from that area comes from Iran (almost 3 times the Lebanese). I wonder what they are up to?

Niss ----- I said the SAME deal as Canadians have. Ours isn't based on race or religion. Israel was designed to be the "homeland of ALL people of the Jewish faith worldwide......if they so chose it to be. We ain't the homeland to any particular race or religion. If you weren't born here, then you "jump through all the hoops" just like anyone else if you want to be Canadian.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but after googling this, it came to my attention that Lebanon was the only country in the Middle East not to have a desert, nor camels. While I was at it, it also came to my attention that israel has a huge desert with alot of camels.

Aaaah, ignorance.

Here are some pictures of Lebanon, and then israel. Enjoy the show :smt039

Hey cutie :) Thanks for the pics. Loved them.

I still don't understand how you made that camel statement?

Wanna send me a picture of a Lebanese desert?

Thanks :)

p.s. and it can't be a snow desert! :P

If you don't, your credibility (the almost non-existant one) will be gone :)

Break free

p.p.s. what's the payload on that cherokee? :P

Bob, yes my comment was out of ignorance and implying that an arab is an arab is an arab, it was a lapse of judgment on my part however you calling me ingnorant is irony in its purest form.

And as to my cherokees payload I do remember it being something like 600lbs after fuel, or in an easier to understand unit one (1) of your wife.

Niss: read a book u ignorant anal sphincter.
U haven't learned anything from what happened to the jewish people under the nazi regime? Dont be another frustrated redneck who speaks of subjects he wasn't aware of before cnn broke the news.
The israeli state-apparatus is taking its revenge, which in turn refelects a psychosomatic desire of israelis to dominate another group like they were back under the nazis. Arabs and jews have lived together for thousands of years. Their languages are similar. Israel is unfortunately dominated by jewish immigrants from eastern-european descent who fled their shit-holes in the ukraine, poland or russia and dont know the first thing about how it works in the ME.
Read what real people like icebound have to say and think twice before you speak. Canada was built by immigrants and is a land belonging to everyone, the new world is again everyones, from alaska to patagonia. Respect to our native hosts.

One planet, one people

From a Canadian and Lebanese

ps. this culture in aviation is driving me out of this business...too tired of this shallowness of the mind with uneducated caca thinking they are the shit...cause they are pilots!!! big f....g deal, pilot!!!
