HONG KONG (Reuters) - Armed police removed a woman from a Cathay Pacific flight after she refused to stow her Gucci handbag under the seat in front of her or in the cabin overhead, Apple Daily reported Monday.

The flight this month from Hong Kong to Tokyo was delayed for about an hour as the woman contested the cabin crew's instructions to put her luxury handbag on the floor or in the compartment above her seat, a Cathay Pacific spokeswoman said.

"We had to seek help from the authorities," she said.

Other passengers clapped when the woman with the bag was finally escorted off the airplane, Apple Daily said.

The woman later apologized and she and four friends who also got off the plane were put on a later flight to Tokyo.

"There was no problem on the other flight," the Cathay spokeswoman said.

Hand Bags

Post by Gards »

Sounds like the Italians and Russian flying on the otters down here in the Maldives. They wont let there bloody hand bags out of there sight even if it means pushing others in the water to get to them after they realize they forgot them on the airplane.

Probably a fake Gucci handbag as well! Fack I couldn't buy an authentic piece of merchandise when I was in China even if I tried!

The woman deserved it, and a bill from Cathay Pacific for the costs involved in delaying the flight.

Funny you would mention the Russians and the Italians. Having flown in an equatorial ocean resort area, I have to concur that the aforementioned citizen groups are 1) the bar none, heaviest bag packers in the world and 2) the most ignorant "you are my serf" folks in the world. 8)
