Hey everyone. Just looking for thoughts on which reference material to use for the Class II written? I have to renew soon or upgrade (ideally, I'd like to upgrade).
Also, what types of questions can I expect on the written and practical flight test?
Thanks in advance.

If I remember correctly, with the exception of a few "supervisory" type questions, it's basically the same written as the class 3/4. On the flight test you're gonna get more "supervisory" type questions and I remember being asked to critique the students (inspector) ability as if it were a pre-solo check flight. I also had to demonstrate a few exercises and the examiner pretended to screw up a steep turn and I had to correct his technique.
I just wrote the written exam last week, some of the questions caught me a little off guard. Know your requirements for all the licences including things like how many t/o and landings are required for the night, how many hours of inst for a comm and how many can be sim, an instructor rating has lapsed for 6 months, what is required to renew it? etc. What kinds of qualifications are required to teach without an instructor rating (multi/multi-ifr). A lot theory of instruction type questions, If you teach something to a student and have him repeat it back to you what princples of learning are you using. Some theory of flight stuff, forces acting on an a/c in a climb (lift exceeding weight etc.) how aspect ratio changes the wing.
Anyone have more any advice on the flight test, mine is booked in about a month

The Class II flight test was the easiest flight test I have ever had. I had a great examiner though. She showed up and said OK lets say you are the CFI of school X and this is your instructor's flight test record, what can you do to help improve this instructor. As she said that she proceeded to hand me my flight test record and asked me what exercses this "instructor's" students were having difficulty with. Needless to say it was a humbling experience and I came away with alot more knowledge than I did going in. Oh yeah I did pass and I had fun too.
Had a question about a maximum decibal level that u can take without having to wear protective head gear. That caught me off guard. Other then that, pretty straight forward. Flgiht test was 20 minutes in the air. Easiest one yet.
