According to the Edmonton Journal the aircraft was a Cessna 337. It also says:
Wright said Wednesday the pilot had been with the company two years.
He said the pilot's family had not been notified at press time Wednesday

I have to say, I was in shock when I heard the news on the radio this morning. Right away I had to phone and find out who the pilot was. I have to say we have lost a fine pilot, and a fine person. My thoughts go out to the north wrigth crew

I hate how small the industry can feel at times like these.

Imperial suspends airline contract
Last Updated: Monday, August 21, 2006 | 2:28 PM CT
CBC News
A major oil company is suspending its use of North Wright Airlines following a fatal airplane crash in the Northwest Territories.

Last Wednesday, a Cessna 337 plane owned by the family-run airline crashed into a mountain 50 kilometres east of Fort Good Hope, a community in the north central region of the Territory.

All six people on board were killed.

Now, Imperial Oil has put its contract with the airline on hold pending an investigation into the accident.

"Any incident that raises concern about the safety of our people, we take that very seriously," said Imperial spokesman Paul Rolheiser.

Wednesday’s crash marked the airline’s first fatal accident.

In the last 20 years, the Transportation Safety Board of Canada has investigated 10 accidents involving North Wright Airlines. TSBC spokesman John Lee said the safety issues in question were relatively minor.

Lee says it could be six months to two years before the cause of last week’s crash is known.

The hardest thing about flying is knowing when to say no

After over a half a century of flying no one ever died because of my decision not to fly.

Very sad that the Oil companies did this. I cant imagine what North Wright Management and staff are going thru as we are all aware in small towns everyone is like family. I Understand why Imperial would do this lets just hope they do not waite for Transport to take 6 months to 2 years before they decide if they will Fly with them again.

This is not unusual the mines did the same thing to Buffalo a few years back when they crashed the DC-4 and nobody got hurt. I do not think they have let Buffalo fly for them yet.

My condolenses to the familys. For those at North wright the best of luck and keep your chin up.
