It seems to me that there are more reasons not to get one in the aviation industry. Although times have changed, this industry is still pretty conservative and there doesn't seem to be a shortage of new pilots for the management types to chose from. I don't think that having a tattoo would give anyone an advantage over a similarily qualified guy without one.
I remember hiring a young engineer at GE in the 80's who had an ear ring. One of the conditions was that in one month when he started the the ear ring would be gone and even the hole was to be grown in. The dress code was blue suit ,white shirt and matching tie. The requirements were stated up front and the applicants were alway free to apply elsewhere if this was a problem.
In short ,I suspect that given the choice most employers would opt for the guy without the body art.
Just my $0.02 Cdn

You know that first impressions are the ones that count. If you want to portray yourself as a tough guy or swiched-on gangster, then go look in the mirror when looking for an answer on why you are having work issues. Dress code is a reflection of the companies ethos and professionalism, if you can't play the corporate game then who is to blame?

I'll have to agree with those who say keep them hidden - there are a million places you can get tattoos and not have them showing
Maybe not the forearm or forhead - that's kinda stupid - but as a pilot no ones gonna see it on your back or leg, or even your shoulder
Just remember the tattoo is for you and not your pax, so you don't really need them to see it anyway!
