Hi Budy.
Sorry that will disappoint you,but the "great" Canadian AME license is just a piece of plastic and is equal useless here and everywhere. And do you know why?Because TC do not recognize other licenses than canadian.
I am holder of JAA66/B1,ICAO type IIand USA A&P license, but when I came in Canada I had a lot of troubles with TC because my experience and licenses are not recognized in Canada.Already I am holder of Canadian AME license, but it is not enough to find a job.
If You interest how to get european JAA license just say and I will give You tips.
Regards :D

Canadian license is about as usefull as tits on a bull anywhere besides Canada.
I have yet to see an ad overseas specifying a Canadian license. I also know several people who came over here with training that we can only dream about, and TC, in there arrogant pigheadedness, refuses to acknowledge it. All the people I know had to write all the exams to recieve that plastic fantastic AME card.
But I guess TC figures that our system and training are superior
You will be starting from the bottom if you want a JARS license(much more demanding).

The Canadian licence is accepted most places.
JAA in europe not so much but in South or SE Asia it is preffered to A+P.
Most of the pacific accept it, Mid East generally like A+P.
There are always regs exams etc which need to written in order to have the license validated.
Few people advertise for the Canadian license as most generally call up the ICAO type II which is what the Canadian License is .
Certainly TC has messed up the intent by splitting their licence off from the CAA/JAA style.
I am perticularly unhappy about the E licencing and the nonsense there.
You cannot have an M and E buy the way.
Probably the only country in the world that has this stupid rule.

" M " & " E " License ?

Post by Mr. Maintenance »

I don't see why an individual holding an " approved " avionics diploma, and an " approved " aircraft mechanics diploma, cannot have both licenses, provided that he passes both exams.

On specific cases, someone with an avionics license may, provided that an aircraft mechanics diploma is produced, after 48 months of experience and all exams taken, be issued an M license.

M + E Licenses

Post by KKboy »

Perhaps I am not being completely accurate in saying you cannot hold the license.
The issue is TC will not put an E or an S on any license which already has M1 and M2.
So in my case I held the M2,M4,M6,M8,E21,E22,E23 before they changed the regulation now I have M1 and M2.
The reg states " Individuals who hold both M1 and M2 ratings will not be issued any additional ratings (e.g. E or S ratings ) as those privileges are held withing the scope of the combined M1/M2 ratings privileges"

This seems to contradict the rational of issuing E or S licences at all. Why train as an E when you can have the privileges without ever attending the approve Avionincs Technology course at say SAIT and then complying with the experience and examinations which are required to hold an E or S?

This is not in line with either JAR, FAR or any other licensing authority I know of.

The problem is one of transportability, how do you convince a foreign airworthiness authority that you have a structural signing authority when you do not have an S license. I have never tried this but I do not see any mention in the regulations on M1 and M2 which show full S or E.

I think it is nonsense but what do I know.
