Perimeter??
Hi,
was looking at thier site today and saw that they don't have high minimums....was wondering if anyone had applied recently or had heard if they were hiring?? I can instruct as well, is this any help with them? just wondering, going to send in my resume anyways, but any answers would be appreciated, thanks...
oh and do they require you to pay for type ratings, training etc...?
again thanks

The vast majority of new hires come off the ramp or through the flight schools. If anyone is hired from the outside, it's generally to fill captain positions which cannot be filled from within.
For the flight school, you need 1000+ hrs with a class 3 instructor rating. For the ramp, a basic commercial MIFR will do (although we have people here who are still working on thei MIFR). At the moment, the ramp time seems to be averaging around 14-15 months.
And no, they don't charge us for training.

You can fly at the flight school on your time off if you want, but that would get pretty expensive if you do it a lot since our flight school only operates twins. There's other smaller flight schools around YWG too which would allow you to rent single-engine a/c if you wanted. I have never heard of any "ferrying" jobs or similar type work in YWG that would allow you to maintain a part-time job on the ramp. If you're working the ramp here, you'd be expected to maintain a certain schedule, which may or may not be very flexible to allow for a second job.

I'm at $11/hr. It starts out at $8.50/hr, goes up to $9.50/hr after 3 months, then it goes up another $1/hr after 12 months. Depending on your job, you can make $9.5-$12+ per hour (i.e. rampie, loader, load supervisor, cargo receiver, freight coordinator, or dispatcher).klintph wrote:How much is the pay for ramp work?

Yeah, and my sister who is still in high school makes about $200/month more than me too!longjon wrote:FYI my 15 yr old daughter started her first job at Chapters at $10.00 per hr.
But its not so bad. The cost of living in YTH is pretty cheap, especially when you're living in low-income housing in the ghetto

C'mon. Don't wanna sound aloof but ramping (unless you're inside at dispatch or making cargo manifests) is rocket science. I'd consider it pretty mindless. Physically demanding? Maybe, depends on you and your hussle. Mindless? For sure.who work mindless jobs
