Greece?
Anyone have any new info on Floatplane service in Greece and Harbour Air?
who are you calling malaka! do you know that Greece has over 4000 islands and about 40 popular islands such as Crete, Rhodes, Santorini, Mykonos and other islands. How many airplanes could Harbour Air put in that country, I am sure there is room for one more potential operator.
ahramin,
You are suppose to be a moderator, not the one stirring the shit. Maybe helinas isn't a rocket scientist (no offenence helinas) but I do not think that he is presenting a stupid idea. Not knowing your experience ahramin, but presuming that you have knowledge of the sea plane side of the industry, then tell me why such popular destination that are served strictly by sea plane have two operators, if not more??? Vancouver (West Coast), the Maldives and Australia come to mind. So what's to say that Greece, in a country as big, or as small, as it is could not accomidate another operator? I'm just surprised that it hasn't happened sooner.

JoeCo, if i am supposed to be a moderator, then you are supposed to be a no rank newbie who should be more respectful.
The fact is we do not have a hierarchy here, everyone is welcome to say what they like, and moderators are here to help in the administration of the forum, not to moderate posts. The rules on this forum are very clear, and do not include censoring ignorant, offensive, or non-moderate posts. Even if they did i am sure we would still allow friendly banter, which the above happens to be. So if i may make a humble suggestion please do not take either myself or yourself so seriously. For the most part we are friends here, and a little banter is nothing to get upset about.
So if i have the arrogance to permit myself to make a flippant but friendly remark now and then on this forum, please rest assured that i will permit you the same luxury and much more, as long as you follow the very simple rules posted.
I realize that this degree of freedom is uncommon, and perhaps even contradictory the personal values of many of our members. In this case please use the same trick i do: There are certain posters here who can at best be described as a waste of time. The vast majority of the posts made by these persons i either ignore or simply do not read. Please feel free not to pay any attention to me.
In fact be glad that i am not a moderator in the sense you suppose, as you can be assured the first persons I would be censoring would be those that do not demonstrate at least a grade school level of English, followed closely by those who cannot express themselves without resorting to profanity.

ahramin,
You're too much! You start by stating you position and how it compares to mine based solely on the number of posts I have made. Then you go on to claim how no hierarchy exists in AvCanada. Then perhaps you could explain to me why every single member has a rank and what purpose that serves? Then you go on to say how just because you have the title of moderator your role is not to moderate. OK then, why the title of moderator? According to your post, would the title of "administrator" not be more appropriate?? As for friendly banter, totally agreed, however I never saw anything friendly about your post. Sounded pretty direct to me. As for lack of grade school English, if that was a remark intended towards the calibre my post, I really do not think it's fair to be casting judgement based on typos, however I do apologize for the uses of profanity in my opening line. You are correct, I should have refrained from using a foul word and in retrospect, the word "pot" should have been used. If I have offended anyone, I beg your pardon.
Now, back to the topic at hand! Does anyone have any information concerning the seaplane operation in Greece? I did check out their web page, however it is quite limited in the information offered. In fact, it looks like it's still under construction. Relevant details regarding the operation and crewing would be appreciated.

ahramin thinks he knows everything, and just because Harbour Air went into Greece as being the first float operator, that is it, too late suckers, nobody else should be allowed to start another operation in Greece. Let us all give up, nope, Harbour Air is in and nobody else should have the chance.
Thanks Ahramin, you are a breath of fresh air. Hey, and I can tell you if I ever started a float operation in Greece, but by the looks of Ahramin, it is too late for that, I will be more than happy to hire my Canadian Pilots to fly over there, but like I said, too late, Ahramin think that I stole the idea from Harbour Air. bang head

I guess by the looks of things from Ahramin, it is too late to make any attempt to start another float operation in Greece as Ahramin thinks that we stole the idea from Harbour Air. Oh well, I guess it is too late to start an operation because that is what Ahramin is telling us. Hey Ahramin, thanks for the encouragement to allow other Canadian pilots to look for work elsewhere since this country is terrible for a career in receiving a half decent pilot job, I guess we can stick our head into the ground and pray.
I am Greek/Canadian and I will look and make some sort of attempt to see what I can do in Greece, because as I said in the previous papragraph this country is in terrible shape for a career in aviation especially the guys that work for free, wow.

i'm currently in Athens airport, just got off an ATR from mykonos island, and previously from santorini airport, those two islands have fairly big airports with cost effective travel from athens airport but i could definitly see a market on all the other islands were i had to take a slow ass ferry that cut into perfectly good party time. i actually thaught a couple of caravans or twotters would do great, my two cents cheers
