YWG Aviation Night Out

Post by Pie Lot »

Hey everyone:

As summer is fast ending, I was just seeing who all might be interested in getting together for drinks etc. as a kind of end of summer blowout before we all head to the de-ice bay.

Thought if there was enough interest we could organize a night to meet at the Forks, or do a Paddlewheel cruise or something. If there is enough interest I dont mind making a couple of calls etc.

Give all of us in YWG a chance to meet some new and old faces, swap stories and rants, put faces to the voices on 126.7, then try and remember it all the next day.

If interested post it here, or PM me and we can go from there.

LOL..I hear you believe me. And I'm not one of those by anymeans, but I do have friends over there. But I didn't start this to be a rant. Just a fun night for a bunch of us from YWG to get together. If we want to gently suggest that 140S of YIV maybe isnt the best call, fine. But lets keep it fun.

Problem with a bigger city is that everyone has a life of their own here, and doesn't socialize with people except from their own companies it seems. Sure not like my days in YXL and YQT where everyone from every company was at each others houses or favorite watering hole on a semi-nightly basis. Still see guys and girls from my YXL days all over the country on a more regular basis than I see anyone from YWG except the folks I work with. Actually thats a lie, I go to Bomber games with friends from the Green Machine every home game, and we rotate watching the away games. But I know alot of the people I work with only associate with each other as they don't know anyone else. Don't know how many other people find themselves in that boat, but thought a night out in YWG might be a good icebreaker. Hey, we all do the same job in the same shit places, just with a different tail colour and callsign.

hey,

What a wicked idea....I wish I was still near the big smoke or I would be all over that. Hope you guys have a good one. Just stay away from Desire....although there are some tastty birds there the few times I have darkened their doorsteps with gag reflex in full effect. Each to his own I guess. Always lots of Manitobans on here. best of luck pie lot.

Actually, typical conditions would make 140 nm's about 31 minutes, plus a few to slow down/final approach, lets say about 33 minutes.... idiot

Always thought that was the most retarded way of passing a position report. What, do you guys fly around with your GPS set to YWG just before a 26.7 transmission? How about saying "Traffic 30nm south of Island Lake", or something that makes sense to anyone who doesn't have the relative distances of every reserve north of Winnipeg memorized? Stupid procedure.

Greykin2;

If you flew at the altitudes that the green machine flew you would know where Island Lake was. They make that cal because that is when they are released by centre.

What bugs me is the float drivers that call off buttfuck lake for shit hole lake, when they are the only ones who know where they are because the lakes are not the VNC. Wish they would call in respect to a nearby airdrome.

What do you care about the call the green machine makes, you don't fly in Manitoba you are in NWO.

The Trails North Grill in Warren. I've eaten there lots and they have the best wings and the burgers there are awesome. Beer is also nice and cold, with a couple cute waitresses too.

Uh dumb ass, we can hear "the green machine" calls all over NWO. They serve no one but themselves with those ridiculous position reports and on top of that, if you're going to make a position report like that... SPEED IT UP! I can take off from "buttfuck" lake and land at "shit hole lake" in the time it takes MOST (not all) perim guys to make a position report.

-thecaptain, 207 NM east of Winnipeg... 247 se of Island Lake 8)
