The CBC should just play HNIC 24/7 365 and nobody would complain.

Maby the only news you guys hear about is on avcanada, but recently Harper said that if he wins a majority, he will cut federal funding for the CBC by 80 percent.
Holy hell, read the newspaper every once in a while.

CBC is a waste of taxpayer money, cutting 80% of the funding means that the overpaid sports commentators will not be getting paid their absurd salaries out of the tax money I pay every week on my paycheque. Why is this a problem???

The reason nobody understood what you were talking about is because this post is nothing but incoherent bites that don't seem the least bit relevant to each other.
Holy hell, read the newspaper every once in a while.
I would think that if you read the newspaper you could compose something that didn't sound like the irreverent ramblings of of a senile angry old man trying to send back a cold bowl of soup.

Either that or we are all just illiterate.

Yeah CBC is terrible, we need more news services like Fox and CNN. They are so not biased. CBC speaks the truth, which makes Harpie nervous. He is a total US sellout.

CBC is great. By that token, so is the BBC, PBS and NPR. It is a shame that even those networks have to appease the lowest common denominator, ie: conservatives.

CBC news and sports are great. Same with the radio programs that dont really have a big audience, but are very high quality. I'd rather see them use their funding and represent national interests, regardless of the ad revenue fallout and lack of viewers.

Stop trying to be a "real" TV station and be more of a national resource. There's lots of newbie TV people making good work out there. CBC should be breaking more shows like Corner Gas/TPB that other networks picked up and did well with. We're supposed to be paying taxes to them because their programming is not popular enough to get revenue on their own, and their programming is good for Canada.

I think they just need new management. What the hell were they thinking bumping national news for a US reality show?

Anyone know exactly what the budget is for CBC anyway? What kind of breakdown is there for their different programs?

CBC brainwashes you into left wing bullshit
so which objective source do you get your news from?

Not to make excuses or anything, but I think that any reporter, even with the greatest of intentions, would have difficult removing all of their own opinion from any piece, let alone a story that they would feel passionate about. It is just important to be aware of the source, and what, if anything, does this writer have to gain from this piece. Everything is political, and I trust a publically funded source that is not afraid to tear a strip off of harper, without worrying about losing funding. If this isn't your cup of tea, so be it and turn to Fox, but let the rest of continue watching and listening to our broadcaster.

and for god's sake, leave the street out of it

I don't think the CBC is left wing bias. In my opionion they have the best programming. I think it is actually sad that they do not have complete funding so they could do away with the advertising that they do. I challenge all of you people who hate the CBC to give it a try on the radio.

It is the only radio I listen to. Quality programing that isn't blah blah blah and full of ads. Interesting interviewees, informed interviewers and a wide range of programing. I haven't turned back to commercial radio and doubt I ever will...

You're kidding, right? Even the CBC's own ombudsman has admitted in the last that the CBC is left-wing.

I have no problem with propoganda, either right or left wing. I do have a problem with paying for it, though.

If the CBC is listened to by so many people, it should be easily able to generate enough revenue through advertising.

Yeah cbc should be forced to stand on it's own just like Air Canada!!!! I am tired of my money being wasted on minority and special interest groups. They should be required to earn their money like I do.

That would destroy the beauty of the CBC, to make it commercial. It is bad enough that cbc tv is commercial, if radio became commercial it would just be another radio station, having to appeal to a specific audience, a specific demographic, and not the rest of Canada.

although it is true, that we pay for it, how much of your tax dollars are spent on the CBC? any rough ideas?

my question is, as an individual, how much of your tax money is spent on the CBC? how much are actually contributing out of your own pocket? Is it really enough to whine about?

If a billion dollars isn't very much money to you, could you send a billion or two my way?

It's really very simple: if you claim that the CBC is appreciated and valued by many, well, then it ought to be easily able to attract enough advertisers to get enough revenue to support themselves.

However, that's obviously not true. If you're honest enough to admit that the CBC is run by and for the benefit of left-wing vegan homosexuals (and their ilk) well, maybe the left-wing vegan homosexuals can pay for it.

Let me clarify that I think it's a great idea that left-wing vegan homosexuals have a radio station. Or a car dealership. Or a cruise ship. I just don't understand why the rest of us have to pay for it.

You obviously know exactly what the CBC is about. Who could disagree with such whole hearted American ridicule like that, shit you got to be a real faggot if you can’t agree with a guy that lays it out like that.

Come on fattogs lets get the yank out and pull that money laundering CBC. Who cares that so many Americans still believe Saddam Hussein still helped in 9/11. You faggots call the CBC "informative" you have know idea how many commercials you miss in 30 minutes! I don't even have to listen to the CBC to know its crap, I just have to know that its been around for so long that it must be left wing bullshit.

If we canceled the CBC we could save so much money. With all that saved money we could give business a bigger tax break to help promote business in Canada, in fact we could keep it right in the media industry by giving all the other networks some well deserved tax breaks. Maybe then, if we are lucky, we could attract some really quality networks to set up in Canada. Its so simple.
