YWG Aviation Night Out

Ok:
I didn't start this thread to have it hijacked over radio calls.
Let's see if a bunch of us here in the Peg can drink the town dry or something useful, not hack on each other.
What does everyone think of Sat the 23rd? Let me know. I have a buddy that manages Finn's at the Forks, I can call and see if he'll set something aside for us. Hopefully a deal but I have to check. If there are any other ideas, feel free to let me know. I'm open to anything. If most of us live close to the Airport and want to meet in that area, that's cool too (I've been known to imbibe at Dylan O'Connors and I'm sure could have a section put aside by the staff there too). Just let me know what you all think. If the 23rd doesn't work, I'm in YYZ for 10 days after that, and wont be able to make anything until Oct (not that you all couldnt go somewhere without me..lol).
Yeah or Ney on the date, and location, let me know.

Good to see your back Johnson, hows ZAC?thecaptain wrote:Uh dumb ass, we can hear "the green machine" calls all over NWO. They serve no one but themselves with those ridiculous position reports and on top of that, if you're going to make a position report like that... SPEED IT UP! I can take off from "buttfuck" lake and land at "shit hole lake" in the time it takes MOST (not all) perim guys to make a position report.. U Farley wrote:Greykin2;
If you flew at the altitudes that the green machine flew you would know where Island Lake was. They make that cal because that is when they are released by centre.
What bugs me is the float drivers that call off buttfuck lake for shit hole lake, when they are the only ones who know where they are because the lakes are not the VNC. Wish they would call in respect to a nearby airdrome.
A1
What do you care about the call the green machine makes, you don't fly in Manitoba you are in NWO.
-thecaptain, 207 NM east of Winnipeg... 247 se of Island Lake

Your plan sounds good, wish I could get into the Peg for it.

I don't fly at green machine altitudes myself, and I do know where Island Lake is, and it still means f*ck-all to me when someone makes a position report "140 north of Winnipeg". U Farley wrote:Greykin2;

In fact, if anyone reading this post is making a position report that involves three digits to express the relative distance, give your head a shake and tell the rest of us something meaningful.
Further, if this procedure makes sense, why are Perimeter the only ones who do it?

Well, here's the thing...
tonight, coming home from Island Lake, having just made a position report 45 south of Island, a King Air 200 (company un-named) decided not to make a "65 south, airport in 15" call and narrowly escaped a mid air with a "green machine" (2 miles away, head on, stopped the descent 500 feet shy of oncoming traffic, only after being yelled at on 26.7) and then due to utterly fabulous airmanship, had a hard time getting by two more Metro's all within 20 miles...
So please, if ur reading this post, calling on 26.7 "70 south leaving FL180, landing in 20" does mean a lot to most people out there with good airmanship, so make the f*cking call!!!

I'm not saying "don't make the call", dumbass. What I am saying is make the call relative to somewhere that matters, instead of making everything in relation to distances out of Winnipeg.Captain Crunch wrote:So please, if ur reading this post, calling on 26.7 "70 south leaving FL180, landing in 20" does mean a lot to most people out there with good airmanship, so make the f*cking call!!!

PAG may think they own Manitoba. If so, that's their problem. They do not own 26.7, and do not write the rules on how to make a sensible position report.ei ei owe wrote:Ever thought that PAG pretty much owns Manitoba and those 26.7 calls just might be calls, mostly, for other company flights in the area?
I suppose the "make every call relative to your distance north of Winnipeg" was probably Mark ("Miserable") Killen's idea, wasn't it?

I think most people would rather have a position report based on a DME fix rather than "4 miles west of (insert Butt-$#*@-Lake that no one has ever heard of here)". Maybe your idea would be better suited to a province which actually has somewhere that matters from which to make position reports.politically_incorrect wrote:I'm not saying "don't make the call", dumbass. Nice try at a dig, but anyone flying around central or northern MB has a pretty good idea of where the major points are that PAG flies in to. What they probably don't know is how far that point is from Wpg, which is why it is senseless to use Wpg as a reference.comeoneileen wrote:I think most people would rather have a position report based on a DME fix rather than "4 miles west of (insert Butt-$#*@-Lake that no one has ever heard of here)". SNJ...Living off the scraps?? I did a whole day of freight with you that I now do the same weight in one trip. And I can get to YWG in an hour and 30...not 3 hours with a detour to Oxford or God's. For sure the largest, but they don't own ALL of it..
....now for this YWG night out...i'm sure you're up for swiggin' a few brews, smokin a doobe and talkin tough with some of your fellow aviators....
