Just took a quick look at it so don't really know how helpful it is... quick question though. They say they fax a letter of recommendation to TC. Do you need a letter to write the INRAT? :? :o I thought NO, but could be wrong. Anyone know??

Joey.

That's exactly what I thought, you don't need a LOR for the INRAT. The guy claims that if you want a letter of recommendation, you have to buy the materials from him (IPM, AIP, LO Charts, etc) I think he is trying to rip people off. Also, I have noticed a lot of spelling mistakes, which makes you think twice about reading his stuff.

Yeah, did some checking in the CARS. Part IV, Standard 421 You need a LOR for the PPL, CPL, Instructor. No mention of INRAT. The grammar mistakes make you wonder if the whole course is full of them.
I think it has potential if done properly though. :P

There are a few on line operations some of them are great. The problem with IFR is the interaction required with the instructor to provide a solid background of info to produce a safe IFR pilot. On line is a poor medium to learn IFR you gotta talk to an INstructor. Now another sorry mess try an find a good IFR instructor who has more than .5 actual experience good luck.

As for the IFR course couldn't say, I think the "faq's" were generic, copy and paste from the PPL and CPL's.

A. PPL - AMAZING course, you didn't need the materials in the past and he can't prove that you had them, so you could guesstimate the distance from Brandon and Winnipeg, etc.

Sorry, he says you can buy from him the materials and no where else does it say "buy my stuff or no recommend." He just requires you have the supplies so you can do the exam and pass. Like I said, you can wing the PPL.

CPL -
We issue only ONE letter so do not delay.
Sorry, my bad guys, 2nd time around though, but I actually read other books too. CPL is tricky. =(

IFR - Never tried the online course, but I'm sure it would be just as good as you know who's book. BUT, Wasn't Me is correct, if you want to pass the IFR guaranteed(ps, doesn't mean you'll learn anything) go to someone, AeroCourse will get you a 90% on the INRAT. Or just get their workbook and have an instructor "explain" IFR to you so you understand it.

Two more cents if I may???

Copyright book guy sells G/S for $89 and then you need his $69 $160+ tax, so you'll save 40 dollars with the online courses and you get a reply to your email within a 1-2 days if you have questions on the subject matter.

Conclusion,

not a scam.
Excellent or at par with other resources in price and "quality."

LT

https://secure.westhost.com/secure/harv ... er_IFR.htm

Second line: "The material in the pilot kit is required if the student
wants a recommendation for the final exam."

Now that doesn't specify if you buy them from him or not, however it implies it very clearly.

BTW: Who cares about a letter, when you don't need one anyway...

(Mods, this is the wrong forum, should be instruction)

I'm still tired.. Sorry.

Yes, Tango, you're right you don't need a recommend, but to do his exams you'll need manitoba charts since those are used for his exam questions. The "mandatory" materials are there for your benefit. When he asks what the distance from Vor A and Vor B and you don't have the chart how will you know the answer? How will you know if you were right?

Tango, I just posted my comments because of said comments,
I think he is trying to rip people off.
I know he is 100% bonafide and that his courses are good.

Frankly, I am appalled that you'd think that someone would try to take advantage of up and coming pilot rockstars and rip them off. Not in my industry!! Maybe those bastards in pharmaceuticals, BUT NOT AVIATION!

Hi guys:

I hope I didn't offend anyone with what I posted earlier. Thinking clearly, I truly don't think he wants to "rip" anyone off. Besides, its not like he makes much money by selling the supplies anyway, and true, you will need them. The price is very good, hard to enroll in a Ground School for less than $400 these days. So once again, sorry!

BTW: If anyone tries it, let me know how it is.
