Son, someday you will make a girl very happy, for a short period of time. Then she`ll leave you and be with new men who are ten times better than you could ever hope to be. These men are called pilots.

What is your problem? Airlines should have cheaper fares, lose money so you can fly?
Canada is a huge country, and YHM-YEG is a big chunk of airspace/fuel to cover.
Now this last part may come as a surprise to you, but airlines are not in the charity business, they're here to make money.

wow.... when are you planning on going, cus i found direct return flights in mid October on AC for 465.64 including taxes... and yet your are willing to sit on a greyhound bus for the better part of 3 days....and will cost you round trip 312.55 with 7 days notice or 695.00 last minute (like 6 days notice)
book early, and fly... even then, fly...i can still recall the feel of "bus butt" after 24 hours from Wawa to Kenora...yep - 24 hours....

hey dont remember saying airlines are charity cases
why are people such idiots???
when i went out and bought a car, I made a similar post on a forum looking for cheaper prices. Guess what, someone actually helped me
when i was looking for a TV I posted on an electronics forum. Got a great deal. Pretty sure Sony didn't give me charity
Now listen up. All I asked was, if anyone knows of cheaper deals, or other airlines that may fly there. I phone wardair, no awnser. Pacific Western, nothing. Tried Canadain, and BC air but the lines were busy.
Did however get a voicemail from Greyhound air, but I haven't checked it yet.
Anyway, thanks for all the wonderful help. I'm just gonna hop the container train be there in a few hours. Unless of course Jetsgo returns my call.....

Did ya look at Harmony? I'm flying YVR - YYZ this week on them, had a GREAT fare.
Courage is the price that life exacts for granting peace. The soul that knows it not, knows no release from the little things; knows not the livid loneliness of fear, nor mountain heights where bitter joy can hear the sound of wings.

Jeez, with a tagline like that you could just float over there under your inflated head!

You guys are being a little rough.
While you have valid points, he's in the industry and probably believed the, "High pay in the airline industry", and, "Enjoy the flight benefits" propaganda. Just like you and me.
He's obviously aware the first one is crap or he wouldn't need to scrounge for a cheap flight. Don't disillusion him more by telling him the second one's a myth unless you want to go to YWG in mid-February.

Seriously, YEG is kind of a backwater. YYC or YVR to YHM or YYZ are probably more realistic. If you scope the online booking, YYC to YYZ might be cheaper due to more seats available.
Also, I've found leaving at an inconvenient time (like 05:30) sometimes gets a cheaper fare.
You could try giving the pretty-please-with-sugar-on-top treatment to Cargojet and see what their policy is towards non-employees.
Good luck.
