KL3-YXL watching the inky darkness slip by. Another freezing night of sked work. Running out to the "terminal" to do up a quick weight and balance. Back to the plane while the capt finished loading and then off again. The KL3-YXL leg being the last one of the night.
It's funny, I would have never thought I'd be where I am now that night. You never know when a big change is coming in this industry. Looking back in the logbook I had a massive change only 3 flights later. Also of note the 3 captains I flew with closest to that date are.
1. 767 capt
2. 737 capt (or soon to be upgraded)
3. CanJet pilot who I've lost track of.
I bet none of them would have imagined where they'd be either.

I was in my last week teaching at Winninpeg Aviation, about to jump over to Perimeter.
I wanted so bad to leave there, but looking back, I really had a good time. Good group of fellas to work with, and actually was still enjoying instructing.

I'd been laid of from my float job, and just hired with a startup Caravan freight company, with the promise of a quick upgrade once I got to 1000 hrs so I could fly single pilot IFR. I was right seat in the Van while I flew that last 80 hrs. Sure enough, and it must have been one of the only promises EVER kept by that boss, but once I got there whammo down to FlightSafety Witchita, back home for the ride, and in the left seat. Worst boss ever, but gave me my big break onto my first turbine PIC job.

"The ability to ditch an airplane in the Hudson does not qualify a pilot for a pay raise. The ability to get the pilots, with this ability, to work for 30% or 40% pay cuts qualifies those in management for millions in bonuses."

Had to go look at the logbook, turns out I was somewhere between milton and burlington taking pictures from a 152. I am pretty sure I didn't realize it at the time since I landed at burlington airpark for my lunch break instead of flying somewhere that had a restaurant and treating myself to a decent lunch.
Hour 2000 is fast approaching...but I'm not exactly sure when, anyone else find it a lot harder to remember to fill your logbook out once the atpl is signed off?
