that's steeped.

At least they canned the idoit with the mustache from the crappy tire commercials. I still remember the issue of McLeans with his picture and the headline "what a tool"

Dude, that IS shite...I fly single engine vfr and that is slightly more than my monthly...before flight pay is added. And I don't have 200 pax sitting behind me.

I dont know... I happen to love the commercial with the TAC agents and the dog not wanting to go back to his original family. It shows westjetters care.
But It was better than the old commercials with the plane going accross the sky saying enjoy the view infront of you with 24 channels. The newer commercials are much better.
But they must be working, because everyday when i told people i worked for westjet, they said "oh... so you're an owner"
so even if they may seem like bad commercials, people still remember them, and that is what counts.

I like the one with the poor fellow that can't find the channel with the comedy on it.

It makes me sad, then glad, all in one swoop.

I love when someone doing specalized work comes on here and says that they make so much more than WJ/AC/add airline here/etc, pilots.

You're getting paid that much to fly VFR because it's specailized work. If you were doing VFR tours of the falls, or intro flights you sure as hell wouldn't be making that kind of money. Going Co-Pilot at one of the better airlines in Canada is not a 2 year plan. It's a 20 year plan. When the WJ skipper retires out making just shy of 200k a year with a whack in the bank perhaps you'd like to compare paystubs again? You could even add in your flight pay if you like in that situation.

Don't compare apples or oranges. If you wanted to compare WJ's wage on the 737 vs the former canjet, vs sunwing you might have something to talk about.

Don't forget to add that these so-called lucrative VFR jobs tend to be seasonal.

ok, so just to clear things up here a moment: WestJet DOES pay excellent wages then? Because honestly I didn't think they did. Also, are the stocks doing well lately? I haven't checked them in quite some time.

Well, that's much better. My company gives you full support, we get moved around on WJ.

Dude, misinformed? You bet. I was just a wee bit shocked that a '37 driver might have been making what an oil patch flinger makes. I'm not starting a "mine's bigger than yours" debate. We all deserve more, regardless of what we're in.

Tours around the falls? Doesn't matter what they'd pay, it wouldn't be enough. No thank you sir.

Sorry endless, your 20 year plan just perpetuates the mindset that pilots have to take it up the ass for the majority of their career, because 'one day' they may be making 200K.

No, by any reasonable standard, WJ does not pay reasonable wages.

Everyone there has to believe they do, because they can do nothing else. There you go, flame away, but it's the truth. You quote me the high-end Capt's wage and tell me how great it is.... How long did it take you to get there?? It's crap, and it's only served to speed up the rapid degredation of the fixed-wing industry.

To be fair, it's not just WJ, looking around at certain Bizjet wages also makes one shake thier head. Well, then we CMA et al, and that's been beat to death. We now have a whole generation of pilots out there who think $40,000 is good money - my generation, and it's embarrassing.

The stalker skit with Rick Mercer is pretty funny, but unfortunately for a friend of mine, it kind of hits close to home.

" We all deserve more, regardless of what we're in. "

Help me out here, employees "deserve" they don't earn?

The industry will pay what you are willing to work for.

If you are willing to work for a low wage that is exactly what you "deserve".

The hardest thing about flying is knowing when to say no

After over a half a century of flying no one ever died because of my decision not to fly.

I still have to stand back and pinch myself from time to time to stop from feeling guilty - 152k a year to go to work less than half the year - newest fleet in North America - build my own schedule - great guys to fly with - 50k a year into self directed pension - the odd overnite in CUN or LAS. Your right guys - I don't deserve this - just don't tell my boss or my wife

The second and third year FO's seem pretty happy with their 85-90 k and not working EVERY holiday and long weekend. They dont deserve it either
