Good SIM in the lower mainland
I'm looking to renew my Class 1 IFR & I would like to do a lot of SIM B4 I do the flying cuase I want to spend as lil time as possible renting a twin. I was just wondering where people suggest I go. Looking for a school that has a good sim (thats not too expensive) & ofcourse has a good IFR renewal program.
Please explain your suggestions...aka don't say "PRO-IFR"...Say "PRO-IFR because...." ect
thx

Im not sure about Pro's FTD's anymore. I did an hour on one recently, and wasnt impressed. They are getting older. Mark at Pro is shopping for new sims right now actually, might be awhile. What I didnt like about the sim was the god aweful noises it was making, and how it keeps changing the control colum pressure forcing you to retrim lots. If you dont mind the extra distractions in that, procedurely, their FTD's arent all that bad, but definately alot more difficult to learn on than the actual aircraft. in my opinion.

The sim of choice depends on the aircraft that you want to use for the flight test. IE. a AST 300 would be great for a dutchess or seminole / seneca 1. but if you want to do a ride in a navajo or seneca 2/3 then one micht choose the elite at PFC.
Montair also has a great sim. A PFC MFD (Precision Flight Controls Modular Flight Deck). the machine is brand new and is an good copy of the panel on the seneca. te performance in the sim is very close to exactly the same as the aircraft and it's really shiney. Great sim with full wrap around visual displays.
The MFD would be great for anyone looking to do a ride on a seneca2-5 or navajo as it represents these aircraft. it's worth a look if you are in the area.
