If you hit the water hard enough to rip the floats off, logically, and in most all other cases, the plane flips. I know a guy that was buzzing a river in a 180, got to low hit the water and the plane cartwheeled.
Wouldn't you have to hit a dock or maybe a boat to rip the floats off?
Also, the float attach points are pretty solid.

If that is what happened, the friggin strut attach points at the fuse would have let go as well and it would have been end of story. Something highly fishy about this crap, except, oh well - female pilotsgoldeneagle wrote:Sounds like they hit the water in such a way, it sheared off the floats, and, with the rear attach point went the floor of the rear passenger compartment, complete with seats attached...

Sorry, i can justify it, I have seen some scary ass female float drivers - you on the other hand have not, or you would not be getting all pissy on me. Lots of women make excellent drivers, not many seem to want to get into float flying, maybe this was a male driving for this accident, whatever, I've been there and that is why I made the statement.Donald wrote:sorry folks, not meaning to sound like a mcp, but women and floaters are a bad combo.
Am I supposed to believe that guys are exempt from being "scary ass float drivers"? I bet if I were to look up accident reports and Cadors that the overwhelming majority would be from guys.
I'm guessing that somebody got beat out for a job by a female and now goes around with a mighty big chip on their shoulder. Am I close?

You're going to die alone, and maybe a virgin too. I can see the line up of girls on the horizon who desperately want a guy who paints all female float drivers with the same brush. I just hope one day you say something like that to the wrong person. The industry is clogged with pilots. Time to weed out the bad apples.Sorry, i can justify it, I have seen some scary ass female float drivers - you on the other hand have not, or you would not be getting all pissy on me. That's really ignorant. Do you have any education?Bubbaganoosh wrote:Donald wrote:Sorry, i can justify it, I have seen some scary ass female float drivers - you on the other hand have not, or you would not be getting all pissy on me. But nobody says boo about this? LOL...cpt sweet'njuicy wrote:...its important to note their gender here...ever seen the neighbour lady pull up with the entire gas hose still in the fuelling hole followed by a police cruiser... how can you get past a piece of nylon strapped around your body?
About the incident though, pretty amazing that nobody was hurt, probably a few bumps and bruises from a 40' fall. And from the pics, nice belly up landing on the grass.

Not to defend what babaganoosh said but you probably would, i think it has more to do with the fact that there are probably more men flying than there are women.I bet if I were to look up accident reports and Cadors that the overwhelming majority would be from guys.

Yea. Amazing El Capitan isn't spiralling this thread into deletion as well.Clodhopper wrote:But nobody says boo about this? Maybe, but how often have they been hammered onto/out of rough water by a ham-fisted driver? And how often have they been inspected?"Also, the float attach points are pretty solid."
