Cessna over Vancouver area??

Anyone know what the story is on a 172 orbiting over the East Vancouver area @ about 3000' for about 4 hrs at a time (sometimes at night). I seen this guy a few times a week now for the past few months. I might have too much time on my hands. Just curious.

Might be one of the traffic watch machines out and about. IIRC they're up early in the morning and around rush hour in the afternoon.

If it's white w/ green trim its the CKNW traffic plane. The RCMP don't fly a 172, but they do fly something that looks very similar.
