I am sure you maybe read in previous posts...but since Air Canada started hiring last summer, they specifically state that they require University degree, or a diploma from an aviation school....I haven't seen anywhere if they have a preference of what school, as there are quite a few out there, but for sure Sault College, and Seneca College are very well recognized.

So, in short it will definitely help, not only in the eye of the interviewers, and selection panel, but I am sure in the training you received.

I always wanted to know one thing, does the college have to be provincially accredited?? what are the chances of someone getting a diploma/degree from a non accredited uni/college?? whats the main difference??

I was hired in June. I did not go to an aviation college nor did I complete university. (I dropped out in my second year) I was asked about this during my interview and I answered honestly as to my reasons for dropping out. Other than the obvious flying experience, I also performed extra duties for my previous company. (Simulator Instructor, check pilot etc)

If you are beginning your career then I would recommend some sort of college or university education, not only because of your interest with Air Canada but it will give you something extra to fall back on if aviation does not work out. However, if you are beyond university years don't sweat it. Just try to create a resume that puts you above your competitors. Everyone that applies has the minimum flight requirements so try and make yourself as desirable as possible.

Remember-What is going to make you stand out beside the guy sitting next to you on the black couch?

Good luck

well i think it might help that my dad and two uncles work with ac and have over 25 years each. What was the age you guys applied, and how did you build up your hours, through instructing or somewhere else

First off, BCflyer.....my apologies, I didn't intend on not mentioning Confed! I was just giving a couple examples....And I know some from Confederation that got on with AC as well.
To the question about non provincially accredited programs, that is something I was wondering as well, if anyone knows?
I know in the past Sault, Confederation, and Seneca were the only 3 aviatoin schools, but now with all the programs out there, Moncton, Mount Royal etc. anyone know?

Just check out your profile on AC's website. In the Education section, there's a scroll down list of uni's and colleges that they've got on there. If yours is listed, great! If not, I'm sure they'll add it in the future on the site...
