Next Jazz GS - Dec?

Post by Captain Jack »

Hey does anyone know when the next Jazz groundschool is? And any subsequent GS after?

Heard the new bid has 47 new hires - plenty of bases and A/C.

Got an interview in a couple weeks, and trying to make a decision on a couple of different offers.

Any comments appreciated!

There is a groundschool on Monday, but it's full. The next one is the last week of November. After that, I don't believe there are any scheduled for December. Holidays I suppose. I haven't heard about January but it stands to reason there will be one.

Something to bear in mind is that not all bases or aircraft types are available in any given groundschool. For example, the last g/s was all dash 8, and only YUL or YVr spots. On the other hand, the next bid is scheduled for January so it won't be too long until you'd be able to get switched for somewhere else.

If you get the Dash, how long could the wait be before getting on the RJ's if that's what you're looking for?

Would they spend the $ on training you in the RJ's in the near future if they already trained you on the Dash?

I believe it would be a couple of years before you could bid onto the RJ. I think that there is a two year freeze on type when you are hired.

If you get the D-8, just enjoy the ride, two years will pass quickly enough, you will probably go up the seniority list for your base quicker on the Dash than the RJ = a better schedule sooner. The RJ will still be there for you down the line.

I wouldn't be too concerned about flying the RJ. The route are better out of YYZ, but as an airplane goes, the -8 seem alot happier wth their airplane than the CRJ guys. The plane is really over rated.

the dash in yyz is blocked at 82.5h every month less than 80 on the RJ, so the money is better on the dash (the down side is more days of work on average)

Not sure if they are planning a ground school in December due to holidays etc, but they are definitely planning on hiring ten a month for the foreseeable future. I'd count on them scheduling a course for early Jan. There's vacancies at most bases.

Right now there are lots of spots on both aircraft.
Dash: Lots of YVR, YUL and YYZ.
RJ: Mostly out of YYZ and a few YUL.
Not much out of YYC right now, only 1 spot for each aircraft.

Got the call for the Jan. 8th groundschool. Don't know if that's because December is already full or just non-existent. Thanks for all the info up to this point.

Keep the resumes coming boys and girls.Flew with a checker the other day, 15 new hires a month.

This has been going around for a while but apparently a certain few in Mgmt. are slated for a 400 course for what's it's worth.

Cheers.

JayDee,

When you’re done cleaning my street, stop by and un-clog my toilet.

Thanks!

Jay Dee, just to clarify things, this thread was about Jazz. I'm not trying to be a dick, just don't want guys getting mixed up about LOU 66, flat pay and PG's, which applies to AC not Jazz

Anyone in the same boat?

Post by Whore Frost »

I did the interview in mid December and was told sim and medical will be near the end of January. Does anyone know which ground schools have already been filled or when the next ones will be.

Next GS is Jan 8, and as far as I know, it's full. It's a big one too. I hope we have space or else people will be sitting in the halls trying to listen to class.

I think WJ is taking about 10-12 jazzers in the next 3 courses.

Well with almost all the Jazz guys being turned down for 1000 hour wonders off the street it's really no wonder. Jazz is the stepping stone to WestJet, since AC wont take em.

I'd be more worried about how long it takes to get your next beer at your week at Arizona's. I think I'd rather be out in the hallway at orientation week, then no one can see you falling asleep. It's a nice change if you've put some cake in the bank, enjoy.[/quote]
