FO salary from 20K - 30K for all up to Beech.
42K /y for Dash 8

Plus up to $40/day pre diem, and flight pay either if you come with a PPC or after your reneway of $5/flight hour.

Captain starts at 34K-goes up to 63K for jet and dash.

Same pre diems, but $10/ hour flight pay.

Not exactly stellar, but they do have marginal medical, dental coverage, no RSP plan, no vacation at all for your first year, mostly a day off was a day you didn't fly but they try to go 11 on 3 off with the thee being together on a weekend.

Lately they've sweetened the pot with 24K 2 year prorated bonds for the dash and jets. All other types initial training done on wing but recurrents at sim.

No they don't. I don't know where you came up with this but not from the NCA that I know.

Starting captain (non contrail) wage is actually 34K + $10/hour if you already came with a PPC or if you've been there over a year. Then it explodes all the way up to 36K + flight pay when you reach contrail. That's on all the beeches except one managed airplane where the owner actually has a soul.

Then when you reach 4000 hours total time it hiroshimas all the way up to 42K/y and at the minuscule figure of 5000 hours if you're still stuck flying a king air you go all the way up to the top of the Beech pay scale at 49K.

The only way to make more money is to sign your left arm and first borne away for the Dash or one of the Jets.

I don't know what Dynamic pays but I'd hazard a guess that NCA is the lowest paying King Air operator in the YYC market.

Holy crap, 63K for a jet captain. You have to be kidding. I can't believe people are taking that crap. You could work much easier jobs in yyc for much more than that. god help us pilots, we need it.

Are your pay scales correct? Seem a little on the low side. I know a couple of guys who just went there.....are they "pounding sunshine"? 43-44K to start on the Beech? That stings.

My #'s are for contrail, below 4000hrs base is 38000, 4000-5000hrs 41000, and above 5000hrs base is 49200. Then with flight pay 38000 works out to be about 43000, 41000 works out to 46000, and 49000 about 55000. The jets and dash start at 63000 base with flight pay. Sure guys up north can make more money but its funny the amount of guys coming south cause there tired of flying around whale blubber or medevac doing 20hrs a month frezing their asses off up north. Guys at Cariboo on the 200's and 1900's are doing about 500-700 hrs a year.

So, no hard and fast numbers? How about an example, for say a Be20, and a 350? How would they differ?

That seems a little high. Most I know are more like 400-600 hours per year. The YEG base flys way way more though. YYC is all white collar, fly there...hold all day...hold even longer...hurry home in time to run into flow control...holds as published...then sit in traffic for an hour on the way home.

The jet pay is embarrassing, especially considering Contrail requires that you have 200 hours jet time to upgrade so even a 5000 hour KAG can't get the job without sitting FO for a year.

Doc the Contrail goes by weight and so the 1900 and 350 have the same requirements as the Dash for a captain...but pay substantially less. I think it's 3000 total, 1500 PIC, 1000 Multi PIC, ATPL, and a few more.

Kinda makes Cargo Jet's requirements look low now in retrospect. lol

Who gave them the right to pull this shit?? Boy, are you guys getting fucked! Pilot time requirements should be up to the companies, the CP etc. Not some "accounting firm"! You guys need a good union! I mean, "the client has the right to reject any pilot......" Piss off......it should read..."Client has the right not to board the aircraft......." They can always WALK! If the crew has been trained to company standards, as approved by TC....WTF? You guys really need to pull together!

Not according to the table that I have in front of me nor the one thats posted on here. Check the "D" and "E" columns....slightly different requirements. Its now weight AND the number of passengers.

I guess you're right. Apparently last year they used to be in the same category so pilots hired before Dec 1 had a granfather clause.

You're giving your customers way too much power over the way you do business. As I said, they are welcome to not board the aircraft. If you, as an industry, don't have the balls to say...."This is our crew. They have been trained as per Transport Canada's requirements, and meet our standards." Then methinks you should run a fleet of buses? I can name several 25-3500 hour pilots who can fly rings around some 6000 hour guys. And some who can't. It has to be left to the industry to decide, not some "know everything" sitting in an office giving advice.
On the other side of the coin, I don't find the requirements of "contrail" to be that out of line.......I just don't think they should even exist.

Hey Doc

Don't some of the client you fly for also have minimum requirements??

MOH?? Hydro?? Cameco has minimums.

It is the same thing with the oil companies, it is just that their requirements are much higher. If you think contrail is bad, you should see the requirements for Shell or Esso!!

I don't think the requirements are all that high.....I'm just surprised they come from a third party. At least MOH, Bell, etc. come up with their own numbers. Is all.

It's there call. We have a similar situation with certain customers. They ask that we have 1000 PIC for guys flying them around in Single engine Cessna's.

They're not that high in most cases, except the multi PIC. Basically you could have a million hours on type flying to all the exact same airports in all wx and still no upgrade because you didn't go fly a navajo. The proble is there aren't more that 10 navajos in charter in all of Alberta now adays. Everybody has gone all turbine.

So how does somebody get that multi pic without first having multi pic? Oh I know let's hire somebody with 500 hours instructing on a seneca 2 and make them a 1900 captain... Then we'll put them with a 4000 hour FO whou can keep them from killing themselves and 19 of our highest paying passengers and all for half the money the captain makes. VFW isn't it?

My 20-30 minute interview was with the HR lady and assitant CP.

- Tell us about yourself, what is your current situation?
- Where do you want to be in 5 years?
- An example of conflict resolution / difference of opinion at work?
- An example of excellent customer service?
- Any accidents/incidents?
- Discussed Contrail requirements --- since I'm not from AB.
- Asked what locations I'd be most interested in.
- A CAPGEN, CAP and LO were pulled out and I was asked a few questions about minimum altitudes enroute, alternate considerations, approach briefing, etc.
- No aircraft technical questions.

All in all I was very impressed with what I saw.....looks top notch and a real classy outfit. Good benefits in addition to salary, room for advancement and job security.

I was invited to the interview with just under 100 hrs time on type, but no PPC and no internal reference..........2300TT, 1800 SE PIC, 275 Multi.

Hope this helps.
